The way i see it, floyd wont be givin true credit until years have gone by. If he were to beat all the fighters out there, they would still find some fighter to match him up against, hoping he would lose. It would really help if floyd wasnt such a **** b4 the fight, and a gentlemen after the fight.

Floyd is obviously the most talented boxer weve seen in years, and many posters aknowledge that. What ppl really dont like about him is the amount of trash he talks, compared to the way he wins. Mayweather would talk all kinds of **** comming into the fight, but once he steps foot in the ring, he decides to make it a boxing match.

I dont think ppl want to see him lose, they just want to see him in the ring with someone who will make him fight to win, because deep down inside, everyone knows that in a boxing match, there is no match for floyd mayweather

Like if Calzaghe takes Chad Dawson, the americans will maybe finally recognize him... But I doubt that haha!

great post..they are hurt that floyd retired. in terms of boxing as an art and science floyd is the closest to perfection we have seen.

I want to see floyd fight agains but I am not going to act like he hasn't had 39 fights already. floyd has a body of work over 5 divisions I can pop in my collection at anytime when i want to see him box beautifully against the widest range of styles.

the fact that he doesn't fight the same fight twice is a thing of beauty. so you are right they are hurt that floyd called it a day but he had nothing else to prove.

Respect is not something he can get in one fight. Ask yourself this question: Floyd has said that he's better than SRL and SRR and the greatest to ever lace them up; has he proven it? Really? Has he fought contender after contender, champion after champion, Hall of Famer after Hall of Famer like SRR and Ali do? Does he have 3 ATG's on his resume like SRL? No. So for him to say these type things and not even attempt to do what they did is ridiculous.

For Mayweather to gain the the type of respect you're talking about, he need to put together a string of fights. He needs to fight the winner of Pacquiao-Hatton (probably Pac), the #1 welterweight in the world (whoever it is at the time: Margarito, Cotto, Mosley, or Williams), and one more big fight against the highest ranking opponent from 160-147. You probably say 160! Damn, you're asking for way too much, but think about it. What was Ali against Foreman? What was SRL against Hagler? and SRR against Fullmer, etc.? The underdogs. I don't think Mayweather would be an underdog against anyone under 154.

did srl come up from 130?hell no so it is asking for too much. and btw, who says hatton wont go down as atg? who said odlh wont go down as a atg? although i dont really agree with that or see them as atg, there is still a chance that later they will end up in the HOF.

and btw. srr is one that u cant despute. but srl is w/e to me because i think that in this era he wouldnt survive. but thats just my opinion

oscar defeated Javier castilleo, fernando vargas, ramon campas, ricardo mayorga. and defended his unified title at 154 at least one time.

hardly what I call washed up going into the floyd fight.

if he was so washed up why did ring rank him the #3 154 fighter in the world.
if he was so washed up and had the advantages like you say he did then why was he a 3-1 underdog. You were a little respectable but now you're just getting pathetic and reaching in your weak attempts to hype dlh. The fact that you had to go back and list someone he beat 7 years ago while dlh was actually active shows how strong your argument is. You're hyping a guy that fought 3 times in 4 years leading up to floyd and also a retired man in that same time frame shows alot. And the fact that he was basically 1-4 leading up to the floyd fight and inactive for a year should show you how bad he has fallen yet you still want to hype him up to better your weak arguments.

wow just wow you are getting dumber by the post(excuse my language). This should be fun tell me who in this era would SRR lose to? It's one thing to say maybe, maybe, maybe someone would have a shot to beat him but to plain out say he wouldn't survive in this era is not even respectable.

SRL took a title at 175 so the point you were trying to make doesn't make sense. There's 28 pounds in between 147 and 175, which means Floyd would have to win a title at 158 to match it, but according to him he's better than him so he should be able to beat him by a couple pounds.

How can you not agree or see them as ATG's, but still say that someone else could have them classified as it. It's like you're trying to justify your nuthugging.

SRR was a 5'10 Welterweight with great power, great stamina, great chin, great skills (including great timing, combinations, footwork, and ring knowledge) good-great speed. Saying he wouldn't survive in this era automatically devalues your boxing opinion, that of course, in my opinion.
