Comparing Van Damme to Lee? Chuck Norris would've beat him? LOL...didn't both Chuck Norris and Joe Louis (both Black Belt champions) leave behind their ritualized styles to train under Lee in the 60's? Norris admittedly said Lee would've killed him.

And as far as him not fighting professionally or not being a real fighter, do a bit of research if you know anything about the Downtown Hong Kong street fight circuit they had in the late 50's and early 60's with all the top fighters in the city (Wing Chun, Thai Boxing, Tai Chi, and some of the animal styles). They make mention of it in a few Martial Arts museums in Hong Kong. Bruce participated in a lot of those fights winning by KO the majority of the time according to eye witnesses as well as Yip Man (his 1st Wing Chun instructor).

Just seems a lil silly to discredit Lee when he's the reason MMA exists.

Lee fought Jack and Yup Man. Wow. THOSE ARE WING CHUN GUYS. Wing Chun was not a fight are, it was and is a demonstration art.

Reasons? Well everyone on the list has actual legit fighting experience in their chosen sport against legit opponents and champions. Which is more than Bruce Lee has ever done.

This is not a Bruce Lee hate thread. He had some very good ideas, about fighting, but simply put he never fought anyone other than Wong Man Jack and 2-3 Wing Chun guys. If you know what Wing Chun really is you understand why that's not impressive.

No they were exhibition boxing matches against no name scrubs that had a kung fu background.

He was not a fighter, he may have had the potential which is nice, but he was not a fighter. Time to start facing reality folks.

I was under the impression that the guys Bruce Lee KOed as a young man were legit amatuer boxers. Ill check up on that.
Bruce did a lot of street fighting, and the thing that made him a great martial artist was that he studied all of the truly effective martial arts and trained in the manner a pro competitor would. He got lots of practice street fighting, he was challenged throughout his life and took up many people on the offer, nobody ever got him.
Also Chuck Norris was Bruce Lee's student, Bruce reportedly got the better of him almost all the time.
