Take Hatton, he's fought at 140 his whole career and is half an inch smaller than Mayweather yet it proved he was the much smaller fighter in the ring due to the fact that mayweather carried the weight better.

So yes on paper Mayweather Pacman are virtually the same size yet Mayweather will be a bigger WW when compared to Pac at 147...

Another thing to take into account is bone structure/mass. Without being racist or offensive but Black people usually are more heavier boned than their caucasian counter parts. (Waiting for the attacks on that comment!).

Also just another point BoxRec has Mayweather @ 5'8, Pacquiao @ 5'6½ and Hatton @ 5'7. Reach is another factor that sometimes gets ignored with Mayweather @ 72" Pacquiao @ 67" and Hatton @ 65"
LOL no attacks for the bone comment... point taken... reach is a big factor and mayweather should be more accustomed to the WW than Manny.
But this whole 106 thing has to stop seeing that floyd was fighting at that weight at the same age on a LOWER level.

Using that logic, then Ricky Hatton is a much bigger fighter than Floyd Mayweather.

      Right?

Yeah but Pacquiao is smaller than Margarito and Cotto. Two guys PBF avoided.

at fight time hatton is almost 160 of course he's the bigger guy. neither floyd nor hatton really belong at 147, but since floyd has so much more skills than hatton he can hang there.

OK....Flawless is right. Size difference is ridiculously small. The one point people miss on is that Mayweather chose to go up in weight for a an eventual megafight. The reason he can fight at a higher weight than pac and survive better is his defensive style. Pac's style would make it difficult to deal with bigger figters but Mayweather can because of his defense. Don't forget that Mayweather was much more agrresive at lower weights then adjusted to being a more defensive minded fighter. Pac's aggressive style is what makes him great, but its a disadvantage when dealing with bigger guys. That is why Mayweather can take on good fighters at welter and Pac might stuggle a bit. I will say that Pac looked great at welter the other day, he had good speed and carried the weight fine.
