I can see where this is going. The 'Americans are fat yanks' brigade and the Brit haters are going to be out in force. Considering what's already been posted, I wouldn't even be surprised if this descends into another 'debate' (read: my opinion is better than yours) about Joe Calzaghe.

Anyway, I think we've done pretty well over the last ten years considering our population and the ever diminishing popularity of boxing generally - don't confuse this with Hatton (football fans) and Calzaghe (Welsh people). Decent prospects in the pipeline as well.

Anyone who cleans up their division, so to speak, and becomes the Undisputed Champion of the World in their division, deserves respect.

Yeah and what American fighter has come over and dominated Europe?.

Where are you going with this?.

Looks like you're clutching at straws.

Sometimes this forum makes me ashamed to be British.

              Damn!

Well, you said "he isn't going to fight America's best" which I assumed would be that Joe hasn't beaten ALL the best of America, and that's true, for different reasons, but Lacy and Hopkins were both the best America had to offer at the time.

When has there been a need to do so? Like it or not, America has always been the Mecca of Boxing. To make a name for yourself, you come to America, not Germany, not the UK, not Africa, not Japan. You may not like it and pretend not to agree, but its the truth.
