Joe C ain't gonna fight Dawson and Dawson should know that. He needs to fight Glen again anyway.

First off, every fighter in the sport of boxing (and sports in general) is looking for the ultimate payday or that life altering contract...so that's really irrelevant to say that dawson is undeserving of a bout w/ joe c. As far as I'm concerned dawson is the preeminent fighter at 175 simply b/c he's been campaigning there (successfully might I add) longer than calzaghe. Everybody is hooping & hollering saying dawson really lost his fight against johnson which is nunsense. True, it was a close fight but I (along w/ the judges) felt dawson did enough to win that fight and when you're the champ your challenger should have to beat you convincingly (keyword). Hell, tarver, jones, hopkins, AND CALZAGHE want no parts of a glen johnson so I give dawson props just for putting his title on the line against the tough old vet. Any top notch athlete should be driven to compete against the best opposition in their respective sport and boxing should be no different. Every great HOF fighter got in the ring against the best his era had to offer so if calzaghe wants to continue fighting then bad chad should be his next opponent..or glen johnson..but there's no way he's going to fight him b/c it wont reap enough financial reward (and this is an established boxer who has wins over tarver, woods & jones jr). Obviously, its not about credentials or else joe c would have no prob fighting johnson...right. As for the proposed match-up, you mofos saying dawson gets an auto L either know jack about the sport or just love calzaghe to death. His most competitive fight in recent yrs was the kessler fight. Now dawson is bigger, stronger, and is a much more complete fighter than kessler who isnt very mobile nor throws more than 1-2 combos. Calzaghe's greatest asset is speed & punch output. In dawson, you have a fighter with very good hand & foot speed who throws combinations & has enough pop on his punches to make cal think 2wice. Joe basically willed his way against kessler down the stretch; however, I dont see him doing that against bad chad. The best move dawson could've made was fighting johnson b/c it prepared him to fight anybody else in that div. Who's currently a tougher draw than glen johnson? You gotta bring your hard hat & lunch box to fight that ol dude which is why none of the top guys want to get in the ring with him esp if the purse is marginal.

He doesn't need to fight Johnson at all. Again Johnson was not any kind of mandatory, and it was Dawson's idea to give Johnson a title shot becase he wanted one of the big names in the divisions. I'll put it like this, if Dawson needs to fight Johnson, then Calzaghe needs to fight Bernard. That fight was even more controversial.

Calzaghe would sooner face a firing squad than enter the ring with Chad Dawson,.. He doesn't even let himself utter Chads name,.. don't blame him though,.. why should he start fighting live opponents now??...

I think Shaun George makes a valid point.

You can't complain that boxing is dying when you've just had a fight that many feel was bad for the sport, and you are probably going to turn down a fight that many feel is good for the sport.

And I don't see any problem with Calzaghe-Hopkins, Dawson-Johnson or Dawson-Tarver. Nothing wrong with beating a 40 year old guy if he's one of the best in the division. It's only a problem when the 40 year old guy in question is without a notable win in several years that I'd criticise the matchup(ie. Roy Jones).

Didnt Calzaghe beating the cr$@ out of Lacy qualify as beating a younger decent fighter? Secondly, after easily defeating Kelly Pavlic, I presumed that Hopkins would no longer be tagged as an old has been?

                  Very truthful post again Clegg.

To the Calzaghe fans saying Dawson is a fraud for fighting old guys (Dirk and FRKO in particular) grow the *** up.

Hey Shaun George... why don't you shutup and fight?

His last fight was the Byrd fight, in May.
