Shaun George: "Calzaghe, Why Not Fight Chad Dawson?"

NEW YORK-Ring Magazine light-heavyweight champion Joe Calzaghe recently issued a statement in which he called boxing "a dying sport." Light-heavyweight contender Shaun George took offense to those words, criticizing the undefeated Welshman for being part of the problem. [details]

Damn, some people are such hypocrites.

So, old guy Calzaghe (almost 37) at the very end of his career gets slated for fighting older guys, and apparently needs to fight a young guy who beat nobody but two 40 year-olds deserves a fight with old guy Calzaghe and barely anyone even knows who the young guy is, and old guy Calzaghe doesn't even make the kind of money he is looking for at this stage in his career? And apart from that, old guy Calzaghe is almost certain to retire anyway?

Yeah, makes complete sense! Dawson wants a pay day by attempting to fight an old guy who's not far off 40, when really he should be concentrating on proving himself by AT LEAST rematching and beating old guy Johnson who arguably beat him and got robbed. And it's now old guy Calzaghe who needs to prove himself?

    **** off Chad, you vulture.

Exactly. If anyone deserves a fight with Calzaghe, it's Glen.

Chad Dawson is a ****ing opportunist. He wants 3 old guys in a row.

          So who's the fraud here?

are you a fan of boxing or just a fan of calzaghe? so you don't wanna see the 2 best light heavies fight? you'd rather calzaghe waste everyones time and disrespect the sport by fighting old ass shot roy jones cause he gets more money? and how much of that money do you get may i ask? stop being calzaghes public relations agent and start being a fan of boxing.

Chad Dawson isn't the best light heavy, that should go to Glen Johnson. For a fight that almost everyone felt he lost except Chad Dawsons fans, he really didn't feel like shutting anyone up by giving Johnson the rematch. If judges knew how to score fights and we didn't have so many judges who judge fights like Julie Lederman in this sport, Dawson wouldn't even be undefeated.

Punching someone in the gloves does not count as landed punches, is it honestly that hard to be a judge?

calzaghe sidestepped every notable opponent to fight shot jones jr. tarver at least had a belt and was one of the best light heavies at the time. roy jones jr was nothing.
