I'll say 9, but anywhere from 7-9 is fine.

I would give him an 8.5 maybe slightly higher but not quite 9. He fought a lot of quility fighters, but he could have done more at 135, 140 or 147 (at 130 his resume is on point though). He fought quality guys but he really did not stick around in any of these divisions to really prove his superiority. He did not need to do it in all of these division but doing it in 1 would have been a nice feather in his cap.

I disagree, the names you do not fight are never more important than what you actually do in the ring. He gets a mark down for not fighting certain guys that is fine, but it does not overshadow anything to me. We would probably never agree on this subject though.

A 7 sounds like the right number, any higher and you're basically calling him the srl of our generation.

Probably not.. LOL.. No problem in your assessment of Mayweather's foes..

But Who you dont fight is very important in determining your legacy..

I am sure most people will agree with that..

After the Hatton fight it would be around 9 but since then it's 8 maybe 7.

It's like beating an undefeated champion and being rated around 9 and then as time goes by facing nobodies or being inactive during a boxers prime due to rising stars and challengers going amiss.

If Mayweather came out of retirement and beat names like Cotto and or Pacquiao then I'd say he is the SRL of our generation. But I doubt he beats both of them or even fights both of them. I rank pacquiao and cotto very strongly, some might not be impressed by cotto but I am, Margarito will always be a bad match-up for Cotto because of the size and because he leaves himself open when he tries to throw his body shots at the taller man.

I still very much believe Cotto is very capable of beating Margarito because it was a competitive match. Margarito is bad style-match up for him but that doesn't mean he can't beat someone who's style will give him problems.

To some people it matters a lot. I look at it a little different, to me some fights don't happean for many reasons. Not taking on all commers leaves question marks though, and they do take away something.

I just never liked the idea of what never happeaned meaning more then what actually took place (in the ring).
