I don't know why this is re surfacing. Calzaghe now is past prime. Dawson is in his prime now, and for another year or so. He's showing no signs of having anywhere near the level of skills in clever offense, persistent speedy combinations at angles, solid chin, adapting to suite, and ring intelligence.
I wish Dawson well and he probably is the best other LHW out there now bar Hopkins (whom also beats him now imo, what does that say that two past prime guys beat him). But him being in prime and still favoured to lose against a past prime Calzaghe now, says it all. Sorry, he loses that fight on points, and would if it happened in the next year.Comment

The Ring ratings for 130
Is this impressive? Yes, very. But he didn't beat everyone, because he didn't ever face any of the other champions, two of which (Freitas and Casamayor) were very good fighters. Casa would've been one of his best wins if he'd won.

Yes. He had to wear shades in the post-fight interview.
That wasn't just to look cool.
Nice work, Glen. Shame you were robbed by the money men.

If we're going to go down that route, what does it say that people favoured a shot, damaged RJJ to beat Calzaghe?
"I don't know why this is re surfacing"
Right...it makes no sense to discuss a possible fight between the two best fighters in a weigh class?
"He's showing no signs of having anywhere near the level of skills in clever offense, persistent speedy combinations at angles, solid chin, adapting to suite, and ring intelligence"
Have you even see Dawson fight, FFS? Or do you consider Calzaghe the second coming of SRL?
If Calzaghe takes this easy like you think, surely he should take the fight and cement his legacy? Why do you NOT want to see this fight?Comment

Get this in your heads: Calzaghe is about to retire.
Seriously, post one more masterpiece, then **** off. That's what I say.

It's not that we don't want to see it. Any real boxing fan does. What annoys us is people saying he's ducking Dawson, or afraid of him, or how he "has to fight him otherwise he can't be considered anything but a bum".

We're not talking modern day Toney or RJJ here, who are shot and need to call it a day. We're talking about a fighter who is still a fresh 36 year old and is still a good fighter.
Why is he retiring when there is so much dispute about his legacy and talents?
Why is he retiring when there is a quality fight there to be made? **** how much money Dawson brings to the table, the impact a win for Calzaghe would be immense.Comment
