So who fought the highest caliber of opponent out of these guys?

    PACQUIAO...

You haven't seen the trends lately, you fight Pacman, you grow old overnight, he makes you fade, and fade bad that you wanna be somewhere else instead of fighting him, that's how good he is. Where was that P4P list that you talked about that Cotto at no. 2? It's been years that Pacman is solidly entrenched at no. 2, and with the way PBF's been avoiding the top WW (Cotto, Marg, Williams), even if he's still active today, it's just a matter of time before Pacman snatches that mythical throne from him.

When Mayweather was number 1 Pac was number 2 and Cotto was around 6 not 2.

So how does Pac not deserve the #1 spot homey?
pacs last four fights were against barrera, marquez, diaz, and de la hoya.. Niether of them were even ranked in the p4p lists at the time they fought except for marquez and he was ranked around number 6 or 7 or so. Barrera was just a name the second time around and Diaz was the least credible of all the lightweight champions and de la hoya is just a name with huge marketing capabilities. To be the best u have to beat the people considered the best at the time u fight them. when has pacman done that recently with any fighter lately? remember that i said someone who is considered the best at the time.. not the best along time ago?

Joe C fought RJ. Pac fought Diaz and DLH. Marg fought Cotto. JMM fought Casa. Good wins for all these guys, but Pac was #2 back in '06, and stayed there til PBF quit and he was bumped up. Joe C had been at #3 for a while too. I think you mean Cotto was #2 at WW, not p4p, and even that wouldn't be right. PBF was WW champ and Cotto ranked #1. The linear title at WW retired w/ PBF and Marg took the #1 spot when he KO'd Cotto. You're confused homey.

He wouldn’t even be in the P4P ranking; he has to start all over again

So, are you saying that Pacman has to fight Ivan Calderon, Joe Calzaghe, Bernard Hopkins, Antonio Margarito and Vic Darchinyan to be P4P's best? Your brains are wire differently, that's why boxing pundits created this mythical P4P list, because not all boxers are of the same weight.

Your argument is too shallow to say the least...

pacquiao is a great fighter... and i was impressed with the way he was able to dominate de la hoya.. I just think that when i fighter gets the type of spot light and superstar status such as pacquiao they tend to not have to fight the best anymore and still be considered the best.. back when he fought barrera and morales and marquez the first time around that was some real respectable ****!.. he continues to improve but all i'm saying is that his competition is declining.. and it's not like there's not serious compitition out there.. but he chooses to go for the bigger money fights which is probably the same that i would do if i were him. but my point is that there is big fights that he can take with much more of a challenge.. any other lightweight champ besides diaz (casamayor at the time, cambell,), juan guzman (fatty)LOL, humberto soto, JMM (a third fight would be awsome), juan diaz, edwin valero (unproven but young and hungry and champ at the time and incredible knockout against bums maybe but still). I'm just saying that everyone knows that these were all better challenges than his recent fights in the past two years or so. Barrera a second time(old and coming off a loss to marquez), david diaz(fought for vacant title never beat champ), jorge solis(who?), de la hoya (old and washed up and he was even the smaller man the night of the fight so there was no size advantage), marquez (much respect to pacman for this victory). it's like u reach superstar status and no longer have to prove urself. Ur just the best cuz that's the way it is and u know longer have to prove it cuz u beat the best in the past and victories over anyone will hold u in that position. But i know that i'm slicing my own throat by saying stuff like this cuz i'm definately out numbered but whatever. A victory over Mayweather would without a doubt make manny the best though.

Floyd will need to beat both Margarito and Cotto to gain the top spot.
