Juan Diaz vs Juan Manuel Marquez

Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer moved a step closer to putting together a fight between lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez and former titleholder Juan Diaz on HBO for Feb. 28 or in March. "Marquez has accepted the fight and Diaz has accepted the fight," Schaefer told ESPN.com. "Now, it's a matter of finding the money. Assuming they each get paid X, they have agreed to fight. Now, I need to find X." Schaefer is working with HBO, but they are a bit off on the money. If the fight happens, it won't be in Diaz's hometown of Houston, where he drew a big crowd for his September win against Michael Katsidis. Schaefer said part of his deal with Marquez is that the fight won't be there.
Very interesting fight. I wish they didnt have to fight each other. But that is how it goes. I think Juan Diaz can win a close decision. But by no means easy what so ever. I think his intense activity can give Marquez trouble and draw him into a fight. I also think Diaz has underrated boxing skills. I dont think he can outbox Marquez but he can use that to give a different angle

The reason why I find this fight VERY interesting is because Juan Diaz throws the meanest combinations in boxing right now and how would JMM counter without getting hit alot? How would JMM deal with the pressure? I'd like to see it

JMM throws the meanest combos for the fact that they land harder. No one throws cleaner, more accurate combos than the Marquez bros. *cues Mario bros. music*

all depends on Marquez's age catching up to him... it has to at some point

an on point Marquez deals with Diaz every time

Marquez and Pacquiao are beasts, Floyd wants no part of fighters like that. Ones who are great counter punchers and ones who have great lateral movement. On topic, Juan Diaz can't handle the lateral movement Marquez will show and Marquez's counter punching is beautiful.

JMM would murder Diaz in my opinion. Diaz will go on the offensive which will be a perfect puzzle piece for JMM's style.

As far as the age concern, I don't think JMM's age will be too much of a factor cuz I find the guy an athletic freak of nature. If you think about it, the only guys who were able to put JMM down (in recent memory) were Pacquiao and Barrera. When guys like Juarez and Casamayor gave their best shots to JMM, it rarely had any affect (which then goes to show how good Pac and Barrera are)

Cotdamnit, I thought they were gonna fight in Houston. It's also a lose-lose situation for me because they're both my favorite fighters right now.

That sucks that it is not going to be in houston. It would of been sold out for sure. I am a big Juan Diaz fan, but I think Marquez will win this one by split decision.
