So they went to day before weigh-ins to allow the fighters to rehydrate to a point where this risk was somewhat reduced.

If this is correct, I think the powers-that-be chose the lesser of 2 evils.

Anybody have better info on this?
    you're correct.

same day weigh ins were dangerous to fighters.

besides......health dangers never stopped athletes from trying to get an edge. look at steroid use.

i actually favor 2-day before weigh ins or longer.

What same day weigh in's would do is in effect force fighters to fight at their natural weight class...like boxing intended..

If you body frame does not allow you to make weight at 130 no more than you should have to moved up to 135 or 140....you should not be fighting guys
who's natural weight is 130 when your natural weight is 154...
      and so on.....

I say fighters should start in forcing SAME DAY WEIGH IN's if they can...

to make the sport more fair and the fight more fair...

I essentially think a few hours before the fight is too close, but 24 hours is too much. The further away from fight time your weighed the less accurate and meaningful it really is. So the more undermined and manipulated the safety system of weight class seperation becomes.

So 12 hours before is a good time imo, to go some way to reverse this deep and dangerous culture of starving, de hydrating, then some guys putting on loads of weight. It's not acceptable to have a WW fighting at MW, against a genuine WW whom can't do the same or drain as much. What's the point in the first place. If we can do this in stages them so be it, first make it no more than 20 hours before weigh in.

Less divisons would be the answer and 15 rounds need to be brought back if not only for the rematchs and trilogys.
i'd love to have 8 or 9 (cruiserweight is fine) divisions.

people will jump up and down less.

it's annoying to see people jump divisions just because they can't win a belt in the division they're in.

I think 8 divisions and only 2 belts in each divisions would be GREAT FOR Boxing..and plus same day weigh in's...

This way it will cut out all the 5 million champions boxing now has...
and we will start having recognizable champions and the sport will be more accessible to the causal fan.

because right now...Boxing is real water down..and i think it is because too many division and too many champions

thats why WBC too me is the only belt that matters
because it is the official belt..

how is the wbc the official belt?

it's the oldest org but they do the same bull**** as the others.

what they need to do is make each other's champ a mandatory instead of dropping them from their rankings.

that way we get to see the best fight the best.

The WBC has Oscar Larios as a champion. That's gotta be a crime in some countries.

Their ratings are pretty much crap for 168 up too.

And also, I wouldn't really call Berto the champ even though "technically" he is.

                      that's what i'm saying.

                      looking at the crap wbo.

remember when the wbo was the laughing stock of all the orgs? it was not even considered a major org back then and was the equivalent of a european version of the nabf or usba.

then hamed , calzaghe and the klitschko brothers showed up and they were the real champs of their divisions.

i say all the orgs make it mandatory that the other 3 orgs champs be in the top 5 of their rankings and a mandatory.

                      it'll insure unified champs.

right now they drop the other champs from their rankings. if the top 4 fighters in a division all have belts they will never be each other's mandatory.

the titlist can duck the other champs and it's allowed.
