Yes, boxing will always be a part of pop culture because it's been established historically.

Yes, there are waay more en****** involved in MMA, more "freestyle" or freedom if you will.

Yes, boxing is easier to understand as far as the point of boxing. You know, knockdown your opponent as many times as you can and the one still standing is the winner. But as far as the allure of boxing, that's difficult for the average person to grasp. The technical perspective as you forementioned.

This is why boxing is going to have a long arduious road back to the main stage. But i have faith boxing will captivate audiences the waay it did throughout the late 60's through the 70's and then on the early 80's

it will always be harder to succeed in a specialized sport rather than one that requires more versatility for the simple fact that it is easier to be better than someone at many things than it is at one thing.

I have to keep telling all my friends who are brainwashed by the UFC and the media that boxing isn't going anywhere. I have been so passionate about it I started a Facebook group and have been trying to start a community that sees the situation the way I do.

Sorry for the plug but this is the perfect opportunity.
For all of you facebook people out there, the group is called "Thou Shalt Not Put UFC before boxing".

There is alot of good boxing discussion if you want to get involved (not just about why boxing is better than UFC) or if you only want to join to show that you support boxing, I encourage you to do so.

I'd also just like to say that I don't think I hate anyone as much as I hate Dana White.
He trashed the last boxing event put on by Oscar De La Hoya and tries to sound so unbiased about it by saying he comes from a boxing background. The man is a joke.

How can anyone not see that everything he says is all just business? If he cared even a bit about boxing and respected it, how come he never comments on Cotto vs. Margarito or Marquez vs. Pacquiao II? The only champions he and Joe Rogan can name are Mohamed Ali and Mike Tyson.

And UFC fans probably would have LOVED that De La Hoya fight night, seeing as how all the fights ended in the first 3 rounds. That's what UFC is all about... short and quick...you don't need any skill you just walk in and throw your weight around and its done inside 9 minutes. It's the ****** of the fight world.

I'm so SICK of hearing that Boxing is dying...It will NEVER die...No one man can so called save a sport...look, it has been claimed to be dying since guys like Marciano retired then came along Ali,then Leonard, then Tyson, then DLH and the cycle will continue.

In the 70's it was kickboxing w/ C Norris that was gonna kill boxing, then karate in the 80's with movies like the karate kid, now it's MMA/UFC and well Boxing is still around get the point? IT AIN'T GOIN NO WHERE!!!

EXACTLY!! As long as people enjoy the striking part of fighting, whether it be MMA or whatever... Boxing will always be the pinnacle of punching. Boxing turns striking into an art, UFC is more like a cartoon.

No, i get what you're saying.

The only weapon available for boxers are there hands. Therefore, they have to refine their techniques so precisely and scientific in order to succeed....let alone knock someone out.

The rules are set in stone and everyone's on an even playing field.

It's like stock car racing and street racing.

                      I agree.

It's up to the fans to pump up the sport and get people interested.

Instead of talking about boxers, talk about boxing concepts. That way the average joe will know what to look for.

Some of the greatest fights in boxing history doesn't even end with a KO.....or even a knock down.
