I think a lot of fighters out there can "save boxing". But it's not up to the fighters, it's up to the fans/promoters to support boxing and turn it into a mainstream stage again.
But in this day in age it will be quite difficult. I'll tell you why.
In the New Milenium, technology goes up and intellegence goes down. Boxing is a thinking man's game. It requires brains as well as brawns. How can you expect the average idiot out there to understand boxing when you've got mindless meathead entertainment to keep him busy? Ie: UFC?
Until people wise up, boxing will always be an underground sport. An underground sport yet multi million dollar business.
Which is why boxing will never go away. Because of all the money involved.Comment

Man that is such HORRIBLE GARBAGE BULL****, I cant believe some of the narrow minded stuff you guys come out with in American...population of US 301,139,947 PPV buys 1.5m = 1 in nearly every 300,000 buying that if my maths is correct
I would imagine Froch pulled in well over 3 million for his fight on Sat plus add to that all the people buying sky to watch Khan then De la Hoya vs pac man and it would dwarf the PPV figures in the states, really man you dont have the first clue what your on about
Thats shows the viewing figures, Dec not out yet but am sure when it is you will see far more people watched the US boxing on Sat that in the US so your point is absolute GARBAGE MANComment

so 1 and 1/2 million ppv buys means only 1 in 300,000 saw it?
dude , where'd you learn your math?
300 divided by 1 1/2
and you do know that just because it only got 1.5 million buys that doesn't mean only 1.5 million watched it right?
most people tend to have friends and family and stuff that watch with them.Comment

Boxing is engrained into today's popular culture. Just look at Mike Tyson. He's one of the most recognizable figures in the world.
And you're argument about the UFC has no relevance to boxing. They don't even share the same demographics.
And please do some research before you write a sport off as being 'mindless meathead entertainment.'
I bet many people said this about boxing during its infancy.
Also, boxing is a much easier sport to understand than MMA is, by far. So 'the average idiot' as you call them, should be much more drawn to boxing, with your logic.Comment
