If Mayweather was still active I would say he outboxes Pacquiao until a KO or TKO without too much trouble. But since the layoff and Pacquiao's dominating performance at 147 (not just beating Oscar but still looking fast and very strong), I think Mayweather could win UD or maybe late KO. Pacman will give him trouble, but Floyd will probably figure him out down the stretch of the fight.

        BATTLE FOR SUPREMACY !!!

Manny Pacquiao is the biggest threat to Mayweather’s legacy as the best fighter of this generation

The Pretty Boy would love nothing else but to prove that he is still the best fighter of the last 10-20 years by defeating his closest rival for that honor.

        Freddie Roach said:
"Manny's been getting bigger all the time, he's getting older, getting thicker, and he had trouble making weight," Roach said. "Even in the Diaz fight, the day of the weigh-in we had to lose two pounds. He told me then we're not fighting at '35 again. He said we had to move to '40.
        (140) Perfect weight for this fight to happen

Mayweather has the same height and reach Erik Morales did against pacquiao, and
Floyd and Manny are closer in size than Floyd vs. Margarito, or Floyd vs. Cotto.

So this fight from a size standpoint makes logical sense.

Floyd @ WW comes into his fights weighing around 147lbs or 148lbs in his last 4 fights. Everybody else in the division come in weighing 158 and up.
Floyd was the Smallest WW in the division

Manny comes into his Fights Weighing 147, 145

Manny Has just Proven he can Handle fighting in at 147, when he just beat the living **** out of a fighter who was 5'11 with a 72 inch reach.

Mayweather v Pacquiao at a catch weight would determine who's the best of this era truly in 1 fight on 1 night.

        Speed vs. Speed
        Power vs. Power
        Offense vs.Defense
        Prime for Prime
        p4p vs. p4p
        Right Hand vs. Left Hand
        1 vs 1

These Two Fighters are the only fighters in the past 5 Years that Knows what if feels like to be on top of the SPORT of BOXING...

"Heavy is the Head that wears the Crown"

THIS IS THE FIGHT FOR SUPREMACY

Floyd's time off is a rest, he's too good to get "rusty". His body has to heal from boxing and if the fight happens, we will see a fresh Floyd boxing circles around Pacquiao.

Tell that to the Old Timers who say you have to stay active to be good. Freddie Roach mentioned and Floyd Sr. mentioned it as well.

Sugar Ray Leonard had trouble in his comeback fight after two years; he won, but he retired right after. He did come back a few years later to fight Hagler, but he came back because Hagler had faded...he barely won and many even argue he lost.

I think given the circumstances this fight is the only fight that makes sense right now for both of them.

I think they are probably the MOST evenly matched for each other out of any other possible opponent either can get.

i consider them both two be two of the sports p4p best.

I believe this fight would be interesting to say the least and believe it would be hands down the event of the year in 2009. Thats speaking from a financial and fan standpoint.

I dont think any other fight could produce as much hype, fan turnout, ppv buys, etc. as this one could...

Ii think this fight has been long overdue and would be thrilled as a fan to see this fight happen.

Lets us look at this in phases:

From contract signing to build-up of the fight, boxing experts will write Pacquiao off, saying he's too small, a flyweight trying to make it in the land of the giants, a little guy walking into a bad man's world. Mayweather on the otherhand, they will exalt to high heavens, telling fans how and why he is probably the most gifted boxer of his generation, a boxer with exceptional speed, possessing almost superhuman reflexes, an undisputed all-time-great.

From the last press conference to the weigh-in, Mayweather will hog the limelight, throwing insults and invectives at his opponent, belittling his accomplishments, beating his own chest at the same time. The Floyd fans and the media, who are always looking for spectacle, will love it for they just can't get enough of Floyd. Pacman, as always, will manage to flash a shy smile, and blurt out those lines, over-used cliches that Pacman fans can actually lip synch as Pacman mouths them "I am fighting for my country and the Filipino people. I will do my best to give you all a good show. I will not predict the outcome of this fight because only God would know who the winner will be, but I will train hard and do my best."

Fight night. Pac chases, Floyd runs. Pac cheered, Floyd booed, Pac wins, Mayweather loses - humiliatingly.

Post fight - fans gloat at Floyd fans, who will fill this forum up with excuses of age, inactivity, ring rust and all sorts of incredible excuses and imagined conspiracy theories to soften the blow of a humiliating defeat in the hands of a former flyweight, a one dimensional fighter who pummeled both their fighter's physique and ego.

In the end, Floyd gets to personally sample Manila Ice.

When Pacquaio says "I am fighting for my country"
Mayweather is going to tell him
"nall Mutha****a you fighting for you life"
                  CLASSIC...mayweather **** talking

Pacquaio is going to get broken down Mentally and Physically...
So much pressure is going to be on that guy to win for his country and race...
And that much pressure is not good for a fighter going in against the best fighter of his generation.... He already has enough to worry about fighting Floyd period..but the pressure on him to win is going to be so huge that
he is going to fold just like Hatton...
He will over pressure mayweather trying to please his country
he will Over lungs against Mayweather trying to please his country
He will Waste punches against Mayweather when Mayweather hits him with a clean shot...

Pacquaio has never fought in a any circumstance or atmosphere that a Floyd Mayweather fight gives him... So much Pressure to win...So much Pressure to not want to get counter all night long...So much pressure not to lose to a person like Floyd...

Who just spent 10 weeks Belittling you infront of the entire world and your family...

Pacquaio better understand that Fighting Mayweather means bringing your A game Physically and Mentality.

Because Mayweather has the power to knock him out, and Pacquaio has the style to provide Mayweather with the chance to close The door on anymore
doubt of who the Premiere fighter of this era was and is...

Pacquiao doesn't understant ******speak, Mayweather's ***** talk would affect Pacquiao mentally the same way it would affect a rock. Pacman doesn't do the insulting and the ridiculing, Pac nuthugs does that for him - for free.

Pacman is a performer. He likes the limelight, he likes the stage. He lives for pressure, the roar of the crowd, feeding off the boos and the jeers, reveling in the atmosphere of an audience who are hard to please. Pressure is the last thing that would affect Pacman.

Adversity is nothing new to Pacquiao. Like I said, he feeds off it.

If you are the heavy favorite and at the same time the one with the most to prove, the least to gain by winning and have more to lose in defeat, you won't be in the same pressure-free mindset. Pacman is the smaller guy, and his skills pale in comparison to Mayweather's, who do you think the pressure to perform is on? How would it look if Mayweather ran from a midget? Now, think what would that do to Mayweather's legacy if he lost.

Talk is cheap, accolades are earned in the ring. Even you admit that there are doubts on Mayweather's legacy
