New Jersey is home state for boxing... Won't ever die in this state

Don't know about other states... So, I can't speak for them.

It is in no immediate danger, but there has to be some changes made or it will decline precipitiously in the next few years.

      - merger of two or more sanctioning bodies
      - better undercards on PPVs
      - more competitive fights, no more contenders vs. bums, less emphasis on "0" being protected.
      - each sanctioning organization should have 4 fighter eliminators instead of 2, so to force contenders to fight each other and have more worthy mandatory challengers (no more mediocre boxers like Lockett and Haussler as mandatories).
      - promoters need to keep fighters more active, especially in the heavyweight division

Maybe in Europe. LoL. Just look at the figures. You're tryin to tell me that a sport that's "dying" generates millions and millions of dollars. Yeah right.
A sport that's dying can have a program called "ringside" which is dedicated to boxing analyists to talk about boxing for 3 hours? Yeah right.

Dude, boxing is not dead nor is it dying.

UFC is the number one spectator sport right now and can't even come close to generating revenues like that.

I think boxing is making a comeback.

The sport itself will never die. It's the fans and followers. Real fans like us have to pump it up, get it back on the main******. I garuntee you the average idiot out on the street can name at least one boxer.

Just keep talking about boxing. That's all we can do for the sport. Sooner or later people will jump on the ban wagon.
My gf can name Mike Tyson and Ali and that's about it.

Its more popular with people I know then ever. Its more popular with me then ever. Its on the front page of Yahoo from time to time. I think we need some stars to get it back to the top, but its not going anywhere. The sooner people accept that fact, the better off we will all be.

I think boxing's politics, greed, and bureaucracy has been exposed due to more efficient organizations such as the UFC. Now by "efficient" I mean bigger fights and more frequently in the UFC vs. boxing, and no red tape via promoters and multiple sanctions.

I think overall, MMA has more "characters" than boxing, and MMA fighters are more willing to accept fights than boxers. They make pocket change when they fight, which I think allows them to fight hard every night.

No boxing isn't dying, but it needs to produce better fights more frequently, and they need to do some better marketing. Let's face it, when people today think of boxing, the first thing they think of is Rocky. No one knows about the top fighters today except the people in this forum!

The reason boxing is making millions and millions more than UFC, is because of their target market. UFC is aimed at teen - mid 20's white kids from the burbs. Boxing events are marketed towards rich folk who have time shares in Las Vegas, who are willing to pay 7500 for a ringside seat and watch ****ty undercards like last weekend.

UFC is more popular right now. And annual revenue is not a good case for proving which is more popular.

Boxing has been dying since 1910.
