Boxing is an embarassment at the moment.
Calzaghe vs Jones
Pac vs De La Hoya
Taylor vs Lacy
Khan vs ***an
All PPV's.
Froch vs Pascal Free
Hatton vs Mallignaggi Free on subscription tv
Calzaghe vs Kessler Free on subscription tv
The wrong fights are getting the most exposure.Comment

Boxing is fine and we seen it last saturday. 1.25 million people bought a fight, over in the UK they had 2 major events going on. Joe may think boxing is dying because his PPV did **** numbers but it really isn't. Joe should of realized to make big time money you better get your ass on PPV and come to the states. Well he didn't do that, his numbers tanked, and now he bitches. Anyone outside of the UK that wasnt hardcore into boxing didn't even know the name Joe Calzaghe before 2006. This would be like putting Karl Froch on PPV. He would probably say the sport is dying too.
P.S. no one in the boxing public wanted to see the woy owns fight.(dawson v calzaghe woulda done better) Joe needs to realize fans want to see real fights.Comment

Boxing gonna be fine...it's gonna take a big hit once the golden cash cow is gone for good (DLH) but someone else will come along and fill that void for sure...but they do need to do something about the sanctioning bodies and way too many "champions" holding belts in the same div...they need to have a world league of some sorts to bring everyone back under one umbrella...this alphabet crap has to go!Comment

Nope, it will keep fading away though. At a certain point, when the massive greed subsides by the fighters and promoters, networks will be able to afford it again and boxing will rise out of its own ashes and become mainstream once again.
What is killing boxing is PPV and million dollar purses. An example. Pavlik got 2.5 million to fight Lockett when he should have got 1/10th that amount. He did not deserve that kind of money just to fight a gimme fight. Now Arum in his wisdom decides to put Pavlik on another PPV coming off a loss.
That is the kind of **** that is killing boxing.Comment
