I really don't think he will retire with a loss. He will have one final fight at 154.
He really shouldn't be trying to make welterweight anymore.

It was a fun ride Oscar- Retirement match De la Hoya vs Chavez Jr.

I'm one of the biggest fans of Oscar de la Hoya and have always said I would live and die with me supporting him. I must admit that I clearly thought that Oscar would annihilate Pacman. However, that wasn't the case on December 6th. We all witnessed an athletic ferocious fighter in Manny Pacquiao, but sadly, we saw an ex-champion who showed signs of aging and who couldn't throw a power punch. Did Manny beat a man out of his prime? Not to take anything away from Manny, but yes. I like to look at it as more of a passing of a torch. Just as the way Chavez passed the torch to Oscar. Come to say, I think it's time for Oscar to hang up the gloves.

Clearly when Oscar fought Mayweather a year ago, he looked sharp and still had power. But viewing him a year and a half later, he looks like a completely different fighter. Retire or not, I would still support his decision. If Oscar does want to fight one more fighter which I wouldn't mind viewing, then it would have to be someone from a short list. It would have to be with a fighter that Oscar has a good chance to beat. So the only fighter I could think of, in which it could sell ppvs would be the retirement fight for Oscar. Oscar de la Hoya vs Julio Cesar Chavez jr. The fight would sell, due to the past of De la Hoya Chavez sr, but it would give Chavez jr. a motivation to want to beat Oscar. Other than that, I don't see Oscar beating Hatton or Margarito. So if he doesn't take this proposed fight, then it's time for the Golden Boy to hang up the gloves.

But Oscar, on a personal note, I would like to say thank you for your memorable fights. Watching you throw down in the squared circle at the family barbeques was times I enjoyed. Thank you for the memories. You definitely go down as the greatest Latino boxer of our time.

is margarito still willing to fight oscar this time?

i know the man from mexico is dying to get a shot at olden boy. now is his time to challenge oscar.

that would be oscar's last fight.

I think its more likely that Oscar would fight someone like Mosley than Margarito.

Margarito-DLH would be worthless at this point.

wonder who Oscar will face next .. and will it be on PPV? lol

i would not be surprised if one of these days, mosley, and margarito will challenge pacquiao.

the two would certainly give pac the hell of a fight than hatton.

but pacquiao-ugly boy floyd is the real treat for 2009!
