that fight was close.and leonard fought duran's fight.beaten any welterweight in history?hell no.tito woulda smacked his ass up.Comment

Maybe Duran beats Tito, maybe he doesn't. But the idea that welterweight Oscar could beat Duran is based on what, exactly? The way he was soundly defeated by a Shane Mosley who was at 135 just two fights before?Comment

maybe even the greatest, if he beat everyone he faced.
as far as skill is concerned, he was a one handed ray robinson(his right hand wasn't as great as his left, as ray's was)
he had grace, skill, heart(it took the days of for 2 fights),chin,
he could box and brawl.he could fight on the inside, on the outside.
he could fight comng forward, going backwards.
these are all things that are said about ray robinson.
he was more sugar than shane was.(maybe if his name rey de la hoya, he could have gotten that nickname)
he won belts in six divisions,17 title defenses( I'm not sure about that number)
say what you will about him as a person(as i have) but i don't think many people would come up with an argument against him not being top 3,2, or 1 IF he beat everyone he faced.
don't act like you won't miss him when he's gone either.Comment

and soundly defeated?it was a split decision. soundly defeatedComment

And certainly behind pretty boy Floyd imo. Because popularity doesn't make you a better fighter on itself. If we're talking about popularity and drawing power he's right there with Ali and Tyson hands downComment

TRINIDAD
HOPKINS
MOSLEY
MAYWEATHER
all four of them are in the top 10 of the last 20 years except maybe Mosley
aside from Mayweather, none of Judah's opponents make that kind of cutComment

no, no and no
the duran that beat leonard in their first fight would beat any welter in history IMO, except ray robinson and maybe a few others like emile griffithduran isn't even top 20 at 147, he damn sure aint top 20 at 154, and he ain't top 20 at 160. yet stans like you run around and rate him top 5 atg
in ten years you will be the stan claiming oscar de la hoya is top 5 atg. duran lost to all the greats of his area and plenty of bums, so I am quite sure oscar will be ranked ahead of floyd, hopkins, roy, and tito once he retires.
it always happens in boxing a hispanic fighter retires and all of a sudden when they didn't rank while they were fighting they all of a sudden (like duran who wasn't a relevant or dominant champ outside of 135) get anoninted the best.
the question is if duran wasn't ranked the best fighter of his generation how do his stans rank hium top 10when oscar retires people will do the same thing. they will look at who he fought not who he beat
