Margarito is bigger and more punishing than JLC. Margarito's offense is brutal when he gets in there. Margarito has a great chin. Floyd's shots bounce right off. Margarito can walk Floyd down...something Hatton could not do. Hatton too small, no range, and vulnerable to Floyd's shots. Margarito has great range. Furthermore, unlike DLH, Margarito won't be gassed by round 7.

Floyd could win against just about anybody with a total bike ride strategy. But, I think the odds are that Margarito touches him early and Floyd can't stand up to the heat. Either Floyd falls or his corner throws in the towel circa 9 -12th rounds.
    Bla Bla Bla LOL

Floyd has faced bigger oppisition threw out his whole career and many have had sucess putting him in the corner

Probelm is once they got him in the corner...they can't capitalize.

JLC is simply, CLEARLY a better fighter then Margarito and you can't debate that.

Your right...Margarito is stronger and bigger then JLC but his

    Hand Speed is much slower
    Foot Speed is much slower
    His punches are too WIDE
    He doesn't have defense

Margarito type fighters can't beat Floyd...

As for the bolded yes many have agreed it was a "Go either way type fight"

    Lets move on

Mayweather in easily the hardest bout in his entire career.

40 punches a round won't cut it, and he is going to have to move much much more than he usually does.

Another problem, that he will have to fix, is that he gets pinned on the ropes often. The reason this is particularly problematic against Margarito is because the reason that Mayweather is able to get off the ropes, is because he spins away with his quickness when the opponent is picking when and where to throw. Margarito doesn't do that, he just starts throwing shot after shot after shot. What he did when Clottey was in the corner was incredible. He just threw nonstop for a minute straight.

Another concern for the fight is that Mayweather is a small welterweight, and Margarito is huge. It wouldn't take too many of those excellent uppercuts that Margarito throws to have Floyd seriously hurt.

All of that being said, I do think that Floyd outpoints Margarito in a very close fight, because of his cautiousness, and good defensive moves. I think he will want to collapse with exhaustion at the end of the fight, and everyone on this board will call him the most boring fighter on the planet because of what he had to do to even have a chance against Margarito.

Even the Floydboyz should be able to admit that if Mayweather does not fight extremely defensively with a ton of movement, he will probably lose. Standing in the pocket with a guy who throws nonstop and can't be hurt is a sure way to lose.

Good post, except that Floyd won't be able to stand up against the onslaught. That standing on the ropes and taking the arm shots with a smile on his face behind the shoulder crap won't work with Margarito. He'll go down. Margarito is perfectly made for Floyd, but not in the way the nuthuggers think.

I will say that Floydboyz have it right when they say that Margarito is slow... I do think Mayweather will be able to slip out of the ropes after a few shots thrown by Margarito.

The questions are: Can Floyd slip out quick enough to avoid taking enough shots to lose a round, and will Mayweather's defense make sure Margarito's shots won't hit him, especially the uppercut?

I think Margarito could have a good chance if he performs at least alittl better than in the Cotto fight, or maybe as well. Floyd seems to be more of a counter puncher, not much of an aggresser, Cotto was countering Tony all night and Marg did not feel a thing and kept moving forward. Cotto is stronger than Floyd, so I don't see Floyd's hits doing much damage. All Floyd would manage to do is out-box, but not even hurt Tony. I think Tony does best when his opponent is against the ropes, and Floyd is on the ropes often, Floyd is very quick when he's on the ropes so he's able to dodge percision shots, but Tony has wide swings making it harder to dodge is it were body shots against the ropes or hooks when Floyds leaning back against the ropes. Everything in that fight is how Margarito adapts to Floyds defense, exactly at that. Not close to Floyd adapting to Margs defense or anything other. So I think Floyd would win rounds because he would counter Margs wild slow swings, or Tony would get Floyd against the ropes and hit with exsessive hard shots that would hurt Floyd either winning him a round or maybe even stoppage/KO.

You missed it then, twit. For the record you challenged me to show you how Mayweather's legacy could benefit from a fight with Margarito.

I think the answer is too obvious to bear repeating. Suffice it to say that if Mayweather beat Margarito, many lingering questions about Floyd would be put to rest.
