We all have seen how boxing may end up soon

And you can not say that this fight helps boxing more than it hurts

And I have absolutely no respect for De La Hoya!

He is like a dude in high school that talks smack and fights a girl

    No respect!
It's where Oscar is at in his career. He probably realizes he isn't nearly as good as he used to be, so time to fight lower weight class fighters. It's a sad reality of getting old and declining.

I understand your point: Oscar should be fighting the Welter-Weights. And I'm assuming, so correct me if I'm wrong, that your point would be that if Oscar feels he is no longer a great fighter and can't hang with the top Welters; he should hang them up instead of fighting the "little" guys.

Remember, when Oscar was in his prime, he was fighting the best and kept moving up to Middle where he fought Hopkins.

I recall not very long before the fight was announced it was a mob of angry true boxing fans who were outraged that something like this Bulls*hit was possibly being put together!

We all know that this fight is a travesty to boxing. De La Hoya could easily fight at Middleweight right now and is fighting a guy half his size. There are guys his size he could be fighting instead of a 115 pound blown up lightweight....

It shows how weak-minded people are and how weak boxing is in general. And I blame each and every one of you!

This was our opportunity in history to make a statement to that punk De La Hoya and the "Powers that be" that emphatically believes that you can feed anything (even ****) to a hungry person and they'll eat it!

How are any tickets selling for this fight? And I see so many boxing fans hyped about this fight. And even picking Manny Pac to win!
        Are you freaking serious?

I am extremely disappointed! if this fight would've been boycotted like it should be think about the statement that would've made.

Instead all you gullible girls are buying into this crap....hook, line and sinker.

All you people who have cried and complained about boxing (how great fights are no longer made, boxing is not the same, how UFC and MMA is taking over, etc....).

Now you have yourself to blame!
green k .....sometimes the TRUTH can sound harsh....thx for the wake up call!

In episode 2 of 24/7 they showed Oscar weighing in at 155 before a grueling fight simulation and after which he was down to 147.9 or something, yet in the pressers he was saying he was walking around underweight below 147.

What's the truth? With that, it seems to me he'll be coming into the ring at 155 or so.

Well, considering the popularity of each fighter, the amount of people that will end up watching this fight will actually help boxing. The only people that give a **** about the size difference, or even know of it, are genuine boxing fans. This is going to have a huge international audience and the majority of those people will not be watching whilst thinking about the size difference.

Unlike Oscar/Floyd, this fight will also be exciting. That is all boxing needs right now. It doesn't matter if it is a mis-match. It is likely there will be a knockout, or if not there will be some fireworks at some point. When was the last time a mainstream 'Super-fight' had true fireworks? Not sice the days of Duran, Leonard, Hearns, Hagler etc. This fight, despite the minority that despise it, and rightly so, will actually help boxing, not hinder it.

The purists out there that are shaking their heads in disgust are forgetting that the majority of fans that pay for fights want to see action, which means someone coming forward trying to get a KO. That's why Tyson was so popular. This fight will truly provide excitement of some kind and that's the reason people are going to watch it. The difference with so many fights of late, especially of the 'super-fight' kind is that this may very well produce those wanted and expected fire-works.

This fight helps boxing, like it or not. It will be watched on a much larger international scale than any fight in recent history and will probably be watched by a much larger audience than any in recent history. It will probably produce some very exciting exchanges and may end up with a KO of one guy. This is what people remember and this is the type of huge fight that boxing needs right now.

Oscar is lose/lose? The 30 million he is going to get plus the incredible exposure for GBP isn't exactly a loss.

I agree to some extent with the original post. But Pac knows what he is doing and nobody is making him fight Oscar. Sure it is for money, but Pac also thinks (I believe he thinks it anyways) that he has a real shot to win. He doesnt, but if he wants his shot then let him have it. Oscar has given me enough entertaining fights over the years that I can let it slide this time. Will I buy it? **** no. Just how I didnt buy Jones vs Calzaghe or any of the other easy to see coming one sided fights. Oscar will win, and it will be by brutal KO. I know that. No point in buying it. But if others want to, let them have at it.

I think DLH will KO Pacman not because of the size difference but because of his style. DLH would be a bad matchup for Pac at any weight but it should still be an exciting fight while it lasts.
