Why do some people hate Calzaghe? (The real poll not that biased one one here now.)

Actually it was the US media and Lacy promotion machine that did that. When Calzaghe fans call him that they are just taking the piss.
"Arse" is the correct spelling of "ass" when referring to part of the anatomy. An "ass" has four legs, hooves and a tail. A good old fashioned Anglo-Saxon word. Probably.Last edited by The_Visitation; 11-25-2008, 01:43 PM.Comment

Wrong. Both can mean part of the anatomy. If you are referring to the etymology of the word, then you are correct.Comment

So you admit you are a nuthugger. Wow. Thanks for proving my point.
I don't "jump". I'm a fan of certain fighters.
For example: I loved Mike Tyson growing up. I would never make a post saying he kicked Evander's "arse" for at least six rounds in the first fight.
It's called objectivity- something which most of Joe's fans have never heard of.Comment

Work in differant ways my friend.
You lot dont have the sense of supporting fighters as we do here.
I still dont get what nuthugging has to do with it plus why would i give you lot the satisfaction of knowing?
I support all British fighters and like some other boxers.
I think many Brits would back me up on this.Comment

Former Calzaghe hater here. I would say the primary reason most people hated him, and why I hated him, was not because he's not from the US, but because he's from the UK.
Though it is not near the level of the Mexico/PR rivalry, there is definitely a rivalry between the US and the UK. I think it really comes down to one side hating the other side's fans, and that hatred extends to the fighters themselves.
Look at the Calzaghe/Kessler fight. For some reason that was viewed as a US vs UK fight, for no other reason than people from the US hated Calzaghe that much. And when Calzaghe won in convincing fashion, this board exploded with "hahaha suck it Americans!" even though Kessler is European.
I think if people disconnected from the fighter's nationality (like I finally did), they would be able to judge each fighter a lot more accurately.Comment

2. Umm, I've criticized Hops many times before. Too bad you started watching boxing yesterday and can't see beyond Joe's nuts.
3. I like how you admit you'll never be objective and always back up uK fighters no matter what the reality is in this post. Way to out yourself you slut.Comment
