Now compare another fighter who has a so called "granite" chin and lets see if they can take as many shots as Hatton does without being knocked down. Hatton has one of the best chins in boxing. Hatton's KO at the hands of Floyd was more down to fatigue than physical injury inflicted by Floyd.
Are you kidding? this is a nuthugger post. Look the facts speak for themselves Floyd KO'ed Hatton, not the "ringpost" as others have suggested and he wasn't stopped by fatigue, it was Floyd's fists that did the damage. I'm not a Floyd fan but I'll admit he kicked Hatton's ass. Hatton does have a suspect chin you can't deny that either. Watch the Lazcano fight Hatton was hanging on after getting caught I believe in the 10th, even Urango hurt him a few times and he's crude export in the mold of Mayorga. If Hatton fights someone again with serious power he will fall mark my words. Don't list Tszyu is an example of his chin because everyone knows at 35 his reflexes were lacking and he couldn't pull the trigger like in his prime. If you believe Hatton beat a prime Tszyu then I guess Holmes beat a prime Ali, or DLH beat a prime JCC, etc.

Paulie's chin did'nt look great against Hatton in my opinion. Yes, he syayed on his feet but only because he was hanging onto Hatton for dear life. I think he was really suprised by Hattons power & there's no doubt Ricky hurt him in the 2nd round. After that shot it was Hatton's fight!

After watching the fight a 2nd time I honestly believe Paulie thought he was going to get KO'd by Hatton in the early rounds which is why he was just jabbing and holding for pretty much the rest of the fight.

I've said on a previous post that I thought Paulie must have damaged his right hand before the fight as he hardly ever threw it. After watching it again I think he was too worried of leaving himself open to another Hatton power shot.

I agree that Paulie was hurt but like I said in other posts despite being hurt he never went down. Now if he held to prevent a knockdown so be it there's nothing in the rules that says you can't hold another fighter. Watch some of the other fights I mentioned vs Lazcano and vs Urango and you'll see Hatton get buzzed and do some holding of his own to prevent hitting the mat. I predict the next decent puncher Hatton faces will KO him. If he fights Juan I see Hatton being broken down until he's stopped and if he fights hollywood or Manny both have the power to test Ricky's shaking chin.

That may be true but a punch is a punch and he took all Tszyu had to offer.

Even if Tszyu still had his power you can't seriously argue that he still had his reflexes and the ability to pull the trigger like in his youth. If you believe he did then I guess you'll be betting on Holy to KO Valuev.

                Guys,

You do not have the longevity and success that Hatton has had without being able to take a shot. Lets be serious for a minute this is Hatton we are talking about a guy who gets hit often due to his style therefore he has to have a good chin.

Mayweather is potentially the greatest fighter of the last decade and he landed shot after shot and eventually following a peach of punch Hatton dropped. He has a good chin, he's just easy to hit.

No, I'm not saying that. Hatton's game plan was to stay within range so that Tszyu could not get the full extension of his shots to land on Hatton and on the whole it worked.

However he was still tagged often, we are talking about a 35 year old man not a guy in his 50's, he could still punch and therefore if Hatton did have a weak chin he wouldn't have lasted 11 gruelling rounds with a devastating puncher like Tszyu.

I like ricky he seems like one of the most genuine guys in boxing and even though his style can be unwatchable he's always trying to beat the other guy up. But at least once last night Paulie caught him and wobbled Hatton, yet Paulie took everything thrown at him without going down. If Hatton has some serious weaknesses it's his defense and chin. Maybe his defense will get better but you can't repair a shaky chin.
Paulie almost fell apart the first time Hatton landed a power shot. If it wasn't for the constant holding he would have got KO'd for sure.

Hatton took real bombs from Kostya Tszyu and walked through them. That's a good chin.

If what you're saying is true, then Hatton may suffer from a "worn" chin like Gatti or Morales did in later years where the effect of all those punches weakened their ability to take it with the frequency they could.
