He never made any excuse so it really our place to tho.

But a got news for Paulie Mallinagi u just cant beat the worlds best fighters with a one handed offence!

I thought the same. I reckon Malignaggi injured his right hand in the build up to the fight. He didnt come across as all that confident when getting interviewed a couple of days from fight night & something just didnt seem right. He looked pretty down most of this week.

He hardly threw his right hand at all in the fight, even when in a position to throw it. From round 2 onwards he jabbed and held until the towel was thrown in.

In the biggest fight of his career, surely he would have gone on the offensive a bit more!?

Hatton looked good though. Looked strong & had a spring in his step for the first time in a while. He definitely hurt Paulie on a few occasions.

I swear I saw an interview with him saying his hands were fine, and he "wouldn't be surprised by a KO over Hatton".

Even the article on this very site has quotes from him saying camp went very well, and he's completely prepared.

Where does all these excuses come from?

Yeah i totally hear ya man, i thought the same, he seemed so brash and confident and then with like a week to go he just seemed alot less happy and sure of himself.

Cant fault Ricky tho, he was quality, i was shocked how hard his shots seemed he looked like he was gonna stop em at one point 2nd round i think

On spot. If you notice when he tried an uppercut in the second he got badly hooked and had to hold for dear life. Paulie was surprised on how fast Ricky is really.

why is Malignaggi still fighting with hands like these? This guy chose the wrong profession, gets no respect from me being able to take a punch, get hurt and carry on, you should go into a fight to win it, and be capable of winning it mentally and physically, Malignaggi can no longer do this with hands like this and is going to have such bad pain in his later years

You do what the other guy allows you to do, not just what you want to do. If when you throw your best shot you get countered with an even better shot that really hurts you, and as you try it again you get the same result, you will try something else other than your best shot wouldn't you? Ricky was too good, too fast for Paulie.

                      Malignaggi's performance flattered Ricky's.

As for Paulie not wanting to make excuses post fight; he was hammered all through the night and lost comprehensively. Any posturing or excuse making would have given the critics much more ammunition; why take the fight in the first place, why not cancel, why figh on? etc etc etc

I'm no fan of Malignaggi, I just think it's sometimes the rational thing to do when analysing a fight's result; look at both performances rather than magnifying just the winner's.

I can't take anything away from Hatton, he did everything he had to do, he looked magnificent. However, when you are fighting a virtually one handed fighter let's try and keep our feet on the ground.
