According to Buddy McGirt this was the reason:
“The reason I stopped the fight is because we were losing,” the former two division title holder said. “My guy couldn’t hurt him and I wanted him to live to fight another day. There was five minutes left in the fight and I didn’t want to see him get seriously hurt. It only takes one punch. I would rather him get mad at me for stopping the fight than for him to get seriously hurt.”Comment

dont be suprised if his cornermen start changing...starting with mcgirt...
granted paulie didnt appear to have any chance to win at the point when mcgirt stopped the fight...HOWEVER he also wasnt in any danger and there was only 5 minutes left in the fight...
i personally (in this situation) would have allowed him to finish...Comment

Klitschko-Brewster II was the other time that Buddy stopped it, and I was shocked by it...
I mean, Brewster was taking bombs, but didn't really look hurt (he has one hell of a chin for sure). He threatened the round before, and then stopped it, but I thought it was just an empty threat.
Moral of the story: Don't call Buddy's bluff about stopping it.
By the way, to everyone saying it was the worst stoppage ever...
Arce-Hussein II???
Come now... sharpen your long term memories.Comment

So... True story...
I was talking to another member on here before the fight, and asked him who he wanted to win, and he said Ricky Hatton.
I quickly agreed, thinking about what a douche Malignaggi is.
And then, I said "Wait!".
I then followed up my original desire for Hatton to win with a reversal, hoping Malignaggi would win, just because it would get your dumb ass (and Johnny Rebel, that genius who has Hatton to P4P #3, and now that he has his second credible victory, he will probably be P4P #2 only behind Calzaghe) to shut up about how great Ricky Hatton is.
