I dont think Hatton would get KO'd. I just feel Mayweather would outbox him again.

I'd love to see this fight with a ref that would let Hatton fight on the inside...

Malignaggi doesn't really have a power shot to throw. Floyd has a little more zip on his shots than Malignaggi. I wouldn't call it power, but it's enough to get the respect. Yes, Hatton was KOd in the first fight, but that was partially because Hatton fell into the turnbuckle and hit his head.

I think the fight would be more competitive with a different ref but I have to say that the difference would be more likely to be Mayweather Sr than the 7 lbs of weight.

Floyd showed he was stronger than Hatton.

If Floyd actually fought the way he did in the past he would have dominated Hatton more...in my opinion.

Instead, he adapted this new style of saving his punches (which has been suggested it is because of his injury prone hands) and doesn't move around...which might be age and added weight.

The weight was not a factor in the fight, both showed up at the same weight they would've if the fight had been at 140. In a 16 or 18 ft ring (not 22) and with 8 oz gloves (instead of 10,) and a ref that let them fight out of clinches, Hatton would be a lot more competitive, but still lose. Unless of course Floyd has a serious amount of ring rust when/if he comes back and/or has trouble making 140 by then.

Floyd seemed as strong as Hatton in the first fight, I'll agree. But, it's a fair question as to how the strength factor would play out at 140 lbs. Furthermore, the question is not whether Floyd would be better or worse at 140, the question is whether Hatton would have been better when they fought at 140. It's pretty clear that he would have been.

After the fight, Hatton said he was pleased to be back at the "scene of the crime" (a reference to Joe Cortez, the referree of the Hatton/Floyd fight). Hatton further said nobody can beat him at 140 lbs which is his natural fighting weight.

Hatton was overrated when he fought Floyd at 147. But, at 140 Hatton is a different fighter. Nobody can doubt that. But, would Hatton have been able to dominate Floyd at 140, too?

I'm not sure. Unlike Malignaggi, Floyd has a little power. Clearly a fight at 140 would be a closer run thing, but it's hard to see enough difference to make Hatton the betting favorite in a rematch at JrWW. A live longshot...definitely. I would definitely skip the pay preview and catch it on HBO's very first re-run.
let's not get ridiculous... floyd always beats hatton any weight class... even this version of hatton who ate plenty of check hooks from paulie.

mayweather-hatton was a more one sided battering than calzgahe-jones.

So you didn't understand my point that it was really a JrWW fight except there was no need to drain weight for the weigh-in?

Both fighters were under 150 by fight time; same weight 140 pound fighters show up at by fight time for their fights.

the only thing you could mean/say is that Floyd would somehow lost some strength by draining weight and then putting it back on.

And here is another answer for you:

Hatton turned down Floyd twice while Floyd was at 140, so that should answer it.

It's just the way it is...we are talking about Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Not a bad fighter to lose to
