Hatton would beat Floyd at 140?

Ricky Hatton just shamefully embarrassed NY pretty boy, Paulie Malignaggi, at 140. It was a total clown job. By round 5, Malignaggi was just trying to survive without getting a KO on his record. That dream was terminated when his corner threw in the towel in round 11. After the fight, Hatton said he was pleased to be back at the "scene of the crime" (a reference to Joe Cortez, the referree of the Hatton/Floyd fight). Hatton further said nobody can beat him at 140 lbs which is his natural fighting weight.

Hatton was overrated when he fought Floyd at 147. But, at 140 Hatton is a different fighter. Nobody can doubt that. But, would Hatton have been able to dominate Floyd at 140, too?

I'm not sure. Unlike Malignaggi, Floyd has a little power. Clearly a fight at 140 would be a closer run thing, but it's hard to see enough difference to make Hatton the betting favorite in a rematch at JrWW. A live longshot...definitely. I would definitely skip the pay preview and catch it on HBO's very first re-run.

Floyd's pretty ****ing good. Hatton has a shot if Floyd comes out of retirement to fight Ricky and the inactivity shows.

Mayweather at 140 would stop Ricky quicker. Mayweather is a lot more powerful at 140 and faster and would stop Hatton round 5 right check hook ;l1:

Same result as at 147. This was one fight that Hatton looked good in, probably because Malignaggi didn't throw a single power shot after round 2.

No. Mayweather beats Hatton as a zygote. All day. Every day. But keep on wishing that in ANY scenario Hatton beats Mayweather. I know it hurts...

You were the one "overrating" him at 147.

I think Mayweather wins a competitive decision over Hatton at 140 lbs unless he is ****ed from inactivity / getting retired by the Big Show.

Let me explain this one last time:

When fighters fight at 140, the tend to show up by fight time at 147-149. They drain weight for the weigh-in and then put it back on.

Floyd never had to drain himself to make 147 becaue he showed up at 147 by fight time...which means, he is coming in at the same weight Hatton and most fighters do that fight at 140.

It was a 140 pound fight without the draining for the weigh-in.

Mayweather is a completely different fighter, he was better at 140. He would probably get a UD at 140 or maybe even a stoppage. Hatton trying to outbox Mayweather is a big mistake.
