If Joe was a Brit and Dawson was a Yank, you'd have Yanks here saying: "who the hell is Dawson? He doesn't deserve a fight. Joe has nothing to prove, blah blah bull****".

Personally, I would much prefer Joe fight Taylor and Winky then retire.

THe fight should have happened years ago but Joe had to back out twice.

I think Dawson is good, but I can agree; I think he has become overrated. I still liked him better when he was trained with Floyd Sr.

For Lacy: not all Americans. I've said this before: There was a group of Americans, that included me, that laughed at the notion Lacy was the 168 pound Tyson. We broke down the reasons why as well. However, Lacy was a decent-good fighter and was a threat and Joe whooped his ass so I've always felt Joe should always get credit for beating Lacy; especially for exposing him as an overrated American hype machine fighter...and hopefully in the future people will be able to try to see what is really in front of them clearer in the future. But who knows; I'm even blind to these things; we're human.

Calzaghe really only has two choices: Dawson and Johnson. Dawson because he is young, a legit 175 pound fighter who carries the LH title; and Johnson who was a title holder at 175, although not really a legit LH since he grew into the weight, and the fact that Joe turned him down 2-3 times in the past.
Ok, sorry for that comment, i agree, not ALL Americans said that. In fact its a little unfair of me to say it was just Americans, there were people everywhere that thought Lacy was the second coming. Apologies

if dawson uses his reach and keeps the fight outside he takes it..with being dropped by jones and b-hop, i'm not sure calzaghe's defense is enough seeing as dawson has fast hand speed and combos.

I don't see this fight comin off. I'm sure Dawson would be down but Joe C could brush him off and probably not get questioned by many people about it.

No apologies necessary. I just wanted to make sure you weren't the blind type who over-looked what the small minority had been saying. Note: Small minority is about 1%.

I sometimes lump people together too when I'm lazy because it's easier. I try to use words like "majority" to credit the minority...but, like I said, sometimes I forget or just get lazy...so it's cool.

              Your humility is appreciated.

                Taylor?

Taylor squeaked by Hopkins but he lost to Pavlik (who lost to a 43 year old Hopkins) twice...including being knocked out in the first match to Pavlik. So I say "NO" over Dawson.

Taylor doesn't have the stamina to last with Joe; that's what I think.

Winky: A former 154 pound fighter who is past his prime? That's who you want Joe to fight?
Winky also lost to Hopkins and hasn't fougth in over a year. I'm not even sure Winky is rated let alone fighting anymore.

Dawson: His resume included victories over Adamek, Tarver and Johnson. Dawson is a legit 175 pound fighter who holds a LH Title. Maybe not the Ring title, but he holds a LH title and is ranked number 2 by Ring Magazine; right behind Hopkins. Since Joe already beat Hopkins, next in line for his 175 RING TITLE, would be Dawson.

If Calzaghe beats Dawson you yanks better give Calzaghe the respect he deserves... not this split personality b/s "he was overrated" blabla similar to what happened with Lacy.

Where does Calzaghe draw the line under his retirement. People are saying he now has to beat Dawson to prove himself as an ATG, before that it was Pavlik. At 37 how long should he carry on fighting? I think he should just retire before age catches up with him.

You heard it from me; he gets respect.

I give him respect for Lacy as well even though I thought Lacy was overrated. Joe went up against the odds and Lacy was a good fighter, but he was an overrated fighter in my eyes. Lacy is not a HOF/ATG type caliber fight or an almost HOF type fighter...but a good one nonetheless.
Joe popped his cherry and exposed him; that's a big deal.

Dawson: I've already said it before; I think Dawson is good but has become overrated. I liked him better when he was with Floyd Sr. and I did think he had potential at that time to be a great fighter in the division, although I wasn't sure if he would ever be on the caliber of a Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore, Michael Moorer, Michael Spinks, Bob Foster, etc. type LH. I wasn't going to think that far. There was nothing about him that screamed out: "WOW"

Either way, Dawson is the best fight out there and he is good-very good...but better with Floyd Sr. I thought.

If Joe beats Dawson, that will mean he beat a young, in prime, legit 175 pound LH who holds a title and is considered by most to be the number 1 threat or number 1 fighter in the division (from what I hear).

So, a victory over Dawson solidifies Joe as a true 2 division title holder beating the "MAN" in both divisions.

I still wouldn't discuss Joe with the other greats at LH but I wouldn't be doing that with Dawson even if he won against Joe.
There's a lot more work to be done that just that one fight.

Dawson’s best victory was Adamek which I guess I would say is the equivalent to Joe’s best win over Kessler.
