Like those World Champions Kessler and Lacey?

    Anyway, Calzaghe is almost 37!

He is not a young kid any more.

I think Calzaghe will fight again.

Joe even acknowledged this on 24/7, saying a few months after retiring, he might get the itch to come back.

I'd rather him fight on to see a couple more matchups, likewise with Mayweather (who will fight again), but like I said when PBF "retired", if he gets out of the sport with money and his health, then good for him.

What about the talks of fighting Dawson? If Joe did retire, hey, he has already gained my respect, but one last fight against a young lion would have boosted him even more my in my eyes.

If this is true, I bet he's back within a year. This will be especially the case if Dawson can make a name for himself in the meantime. HBO wants Dawson to be the next megastar and will push for a fight with Calzaghe if it makes financial sense. I just can't see Calzaghe not getting the urge again.

Joe was a very good fighter.

Weak competition and match-ups against "has-beens" prevented him from establishing himself as a GREAT fighter.

I would LOVE to see him fight Dawson, though.

Man, I really don't know though. It seemed like Lamps and Merchant were pushing the hell out of a Calzaghe-Taylor fight when Taylor fought Lacy. I don't think they mentioned Dawson ONCE.

He already had a legacy at that point.

Holding the world title for over a decade and beating the likes of Kessler, Eubank and Lacey created his legacy.

He only fought Hopkins and Jones to make his bank balance healthier, for him and little kids.

The man is over-rated, but he is still one of the best boxers of the last decade.
