Margarito Says Mosley Balk is De La Hoya Payback

am i not mistaken in that margarito is the champion and that he should get the lions share of the purse?????? mosley is a name, and a big name at that, but the fact of the matter is this, two points; 1) margarito is the champion and has a decent size fan base in southern cali 2) mosley although from southern california, doesn't have that big of a fan base, sad to say, i think he should, but it's been proven over the years by his crowds at his fights. if he isnt fighting someone that has a bigger fan base his fights dont do too well, as far as gate and ppv's. ive been to many of mosley's fights and never really seen a massive crowd........


bottom line is, if mosley wanted to fight for the championship belt that margarito has, then GBP would make the fight happen by offering a better split. instead, they're going to throw the biggest payday that berto has ever seen to fight for that belt, i'm sure it won't be two million, more than likely a lot less, if it is more than that then GBP is really ****ed,mosley has a better chance at beating berto with his experience and more of a boxing match instead of being pitted into an all out war against margarito............

i don't blame margarito for turing that **** down, fights are won before you step into the ring, why let GBP win in the negotiations? why let them dictate how things go, when you're(margarito) the champion????

i like mosley, he's one of my favorite fighters of all time but in the politics of boxing, no one is above criticism..............

But on the flipside, regardless of the purse split, $2 million still represents a career-high payday for Margarito and it was he and his management that stirred things up with some verbal volleys in Mosley's direction. Also, in this economic climate, it just doesn't look kosher to be eschewing large paydays, especially for a fighter who appealed to 'Jose the Plumber' with his down-to-earth, blue-collar ethic.


You nuthuggers need to cut that **** out. He made $1.3 million facing Cotto, $1.6 against Williams. This $2 million would have been his biggest payday. Dont give me that "he made money off the PPV" bull****.

The way PW is jumping up and down in weight...I cant blame Margo if a rematch between him and PW doesnt happen.

PW and Goosen wanted to move forward after their first fight..so it didnt happen then.

I think by Margo turning down PW and Goosen , NOW that they want to fight and by him turning down Mosley, he is trying to make a statement that he wants to be dictating more who he fights and for what. Kind of like Hopkins did for a while w/out a major promoter.

That 4 mil offer was to Arum and top rank to produce Margo..not soley to Margo. and who knows how much say Arum had it turning it down. Top rank would get there cut for sure...

my point is that PW may very well stay at jmw or even MW.. so that would keep them from rematching..

Also, Marg wanted the IMMEDIATE rematch PW didnt..
