Damn I miss those good old days in boxing when fighters would go after the Champion, not the bigger draw, and as the champ you could accept whoever's challenge you deemed worthy. Cotto was a great champ with alot of heart but Margarito exposed him, the rematch will be the same except it'll be over in 6. Mosley should accept that he lost his last fight
against a top-notch opponent(whom Margarito already beat) and that he doesn't deserve a 50\50 split. As champion Margarito understands that he holds the most important card, so why should he just accept whatever is thrown in front of him as if he was still looking for his recognition, he's got it already.

Because many people here see that Tony is Mexican and think its ok to treat Mexicans like day laborers, no matter what the profession.

Get the **** outta here. Margarito doesnt rematch ANYONE he loses to. PERIOD.

Oh he is good at sitting out for a YEAR to rematch someone who QUIT against him, not making a dime doing so, but he wont rematch ANYONE that beat him.

here's the flipside...

if he doesn't take the fight w/ mosley he's ducking an old man.
if he doesn't take the fight and comes in rusty for the guaranteed cotto rematch and loses, he'll look like an ass.
if he fights some bum for less than what mosley offered he'll look like an idiot.
plus margarito isn't making any money not fighting.

so its better if marg fights mosley. he'll be making money, he'll get rid of ring rust, plus mosley is still competitive enough to make it a good fight but not prime enough to win. IMHO its a safe fight and a win-win sitiuation for marg.

lets not forget that he has a couple of mandatories out there...that will take care of the ring rust, and collazo would be a respectable matchup. the $ wont be the same, but margo wont be submitting to gbp's bull**** 50/50 split. i just came back from the mexican forums and they all down with margos decision...it would have been good to watch...but theres something personal in this matter with margo & gbp.

Well first of all you dont have to be a Puertorrican to be a Cotto fan. And if the fight would off been in NY, you would off have more Cotto fans than Margarito fans. Second Lets put Berto against Margarito in California and Cotto vs Berto in New York and see who sell the most!!!!! One thing is being a Margarito fan but saying he is a bigger draw than Cotto is absurd!!!!!!!!!!!

Marg hasn't made the money that Mosley, DLH or Cotto have made. Doesn't he deserve to make his money while he's on top?

Last thing that Marg is, is scared. He wants to fight, he just wants to get payed while doing it. His days of fighting in Tijuana backyards for little money are over.

You seem reasonable. The problem is, Margarito has passed on a total of $6 million dollars waiting for Cotto. Do you honestly think he is going to get that much when he only made $1.3 million in the first fight? With him refusing to fight Mosley just upped the ante on any future fights. What he basically said is he is worth more than $6 million per fight. You can be the most staunch Margarito fan and see thats not a reality in boxing in this economy. Wanting the more than what your maketability is worth will have him ringside sitting next to Winky Wright.

Wright turned down $5 million for a rematch with Taylor because he felt he deserved more money. What happened? He took less to fight Quartey and less to fight Hopkins and has been sitting on the sideline since.
