Margarito probably, as Latinos have taken over the U.S.

Jin should be happy Margarito did not accept that slap in the face, low ball offer!

Tony would have beat the caca out of Shane.

I'm not sure I would have wanted to see the graphic nature of that beating.

Being that Shane IS a star, I still don't think 50-50 is that fair. He needs Msrgarito more than Margarito needs him right now, he's the man at 147 right now. Shane's a proven star and sure fire hall of famer, but he lost to the man Margarito just knocked out.

I do agree...50% of the profits is asking too much...

mosley cant just ask for 50% because of his name or past skill...

does he deserve a fair shake? sure...he shouldnt be fighting for no 20% or anything...but 50% is asking too much especially when you take into consideration that margarito did beat the man who beat him and is now the top fighter at 147.

im not exactly sure why the fight didnt happen...but 50% isnt fair to margarito.

you can't go off who is the bigger name...

how would the profits between the roy jones jr v. calzaghe been split? 95% to 5% in favor of roy jones jr?

you cant go off of who is a bigger name overall.

Bad way to make a point. Calzaghe Jones was a 50/50 split and yet Calzaghe was the man and Jones had not won anything significant in a long time and was even more done in than Jones. Jones' latest win was over another old and shot fighter. Mosley had at least just come off an exciting twelfth round KO of Mayorga. Calzaghe was undefeated and could have gotten any fight, but he went with the name of Jones because that's what it is for him, a name, just as Mosley would be the biggest name Margarito has ever fought.

Jones being the name he is would have had to come down to accommodate Calzahe as Calzaghe was the champ. The difference there is that Calzaghe is twice the name Margarito is overseas and in America just having come off a huge win over Hopkins. Margarito is not nearly as known as either guy. Nonetheless, they still split down the middle because Jones is the name. Mosley is the name here, but unlike Calzaghe/Jones, Margarito doesn't even have much of a name in the US. 50/50 is right.

Margarito is not in a position to demand anything more than a 50/50 split with a guy like Mosley yet. Did Cotto get the larger % against Mosley? He is not a big enough draw by himself and would struggle to make a PPV work if he was the only name draw. Against Mosley however, Mosley would be the name draw against the new champ in Margarito. 50/50 is the only way this could ever work. There are very few names that could get Mosley to except less than his 50% share. He is the draw and he would make up the large majority of numbers for a PPV event. Margarito is not at all known among US fringe boxing fans whereas Mosley is a very big star who has fought everyone. Anything less than 50/50 is crazy.

RJJ is something special, clearly a BIGGER name than Mosley. He's a sure fire first ballot Hall of Fame lock.

Calslappy is not a huge name in the U.S. Him fighting Jones on American soil would not get him the Lion's Share of the cut. Props to Joe for coming here and whoopin' on Roy.

Now, back to Shane vs Tony. Margarito beat Cotto, who beat Mosley. Mosley's last fight earned him 1.5 mil. Not very good numbers for a "Hall of Famer". Margarito's fight against Cotto made more dollars than Shane's fight against Miguel.

                      Who's the bigger draw???

I don't think Jin wanted Shane to fight Tony or Shane himself didn't want to venture in that avenue.

The only other situation I can come up with is Oscar himself setting the numbers cuz Tony whooped his ass in sparring.

Maybe that's why MAB left Golden Boy. He probably got tired of the Good Ole Boy system and said "F you Oscar" "I'm out leva".

Tony would stop Mosley right now. If Shane was a man, he would put Jin in her place and take the challenger's cut of the purse and fight Tony.
