Didn't margarito sell more seats in the same venue against at the time a no name williams thatn mosley did against mayorga? Mosley is such a big draw, and he drew 3,500 people actually lets say 5,000 people in his own hometown against a very popular fighter? Some of you people are so filled with hate you don't even realise you prove your own self wrong in your own posts.
It took Cotto to help draw those numbers. Tony didnt do it by hisself. Plus Cotto has a way bigger fan base than Tony.

Honestly, I think after being avoided for all these years Margarito deserves more credit and respect than what they are giving him. He's the champion at the moment and the bigger draw after how he defeated Cotto, Shane wasn't even close to do what Marg did to him, I say good move for him, even if it get a lot of haters and fans dissapointed for this one.

where else is he gonna get $2million from tho?..

        De la Hoya said NO!..

He rejected a $4million rematch with Paul Williams..

        Who else is out there?.

If it's about money..Mosley was his best best as of now..even with the 50-50 split..somethings fishy about this ****...I don't wanna say fear..but I just don't know what to say..

Becoming a champion doesn't mean don't take risks ever again..it means defend ur **** against the best..

Margarito might be the better fighter but Sugar Shane is the bigger name IMO. Shane has been in on some huge fights and big PPVs and one time top P4P. People know who shane is and when it comes to TV more people would tune in to see him fight. Especially in America, Margarito is still pretty unknown. When you ask people outside of the hardcore public people really don't know Marg but people still know who Shane is. Anyways, Shane is still a bigger name and that is how boxers get paid. Boxing is as much of a business as it is a sport. A 50/50 split is fair I think. Margarito needs to remember that with great risk comes great reward. If you beat Mosley it will just add more hype to the rematch fight with Cotto. Sometimes, you have to take 1 step back to more 2 steps forward.

True, but if someone knows about being turned down its him so you could say it's like getting back at them for what they did to him years ago. About Paul Williams perhaps it was too risky for him, even if it was 4 million dollars and from what we can see Williams isn't coming back to welterweight since no one wants to fight him, even Shane Mosley himself.

but in the end Margarito had an opportunity to make 2 Mil by fighting a popular and slightly fading star in Mosley. Who else will he fight to make that kinda money? If he loses Im sure it would be a battle and Im sure there would be a rematch clause which would provide another lucrative payday. I just dont see the overall logic. I know people are saying just sit tight and wait for Cotto but if he don't fight until June that is one hell of a layoff to come back and fight Cotto. Truly a dissappointment.
