Swallow your pride, make $2 mill, and put a very good name on your resume or turn the fight down after you talked ****, and just do nothing until June? It just doesn't make sense to me.

He has more to lose, because this puts a blemish on his image. And then if he loses to Cotto? That will be disastrous for his career. I don't think he's scared or anything, I just think it was a poor business decision.
really??? shane is the one with out much options not margarito.

margarito could easily fight clottey in a unification belt, then fight cotto for his wba belt that he's going to fight for in feb and you have a mega fight which is a rematch of a very exciting fight and the winner is the wba, wbo, and ibf undisputed champion of the world. how does he not have options? If they're going to low ball margarito then they can screw themselves.

But, realistically, do you honestly think that's going to happen? Clearly money is a huge sticking point for Margarito right now. He isn't going to get more than $2 mil in a fight with Clottey most likely. I agree that it would be a great set up for the rematch, but it just doesn't seem likely at this point.

You don't see the most likely scenario being Margarito waiting for the rematch? He's back at square one right now and it's going to be tough for him to find a fight that fits what he's looking for. I'm not hating on Margarito, I just think that this was a good career option that would have gotten him more money down the road even if he didn't think he was getting his fair share for the fight.

it has nothing to do with looking for more money elsewhere. It has everything to do with not accepting a fight where you're being lowballed in. I'd rather make less somewhere else than make more in a fight where you the WW champion of the world got low balled in a fight vs someone that hasnt done ****, looked like **** in his last fight, only brought in 3500 fans or so to the same venue where you brought in 8000 people to fight a no name before margarito had accomplished what he has this year.

              Out of those five guys,

which fighter is the one who faced 4 names on that list?
rogelio had a similar response when i said that. he fought these guys as defenses , but when they have belts and the fights matter they dont happen? and since he fought more guys mean he is not the most feared... and you can keep bringing up past fights all you want, still got nothing to do with whats going on now. and like i said b4 if he feels he's been there done that...then he can fight collazo if thats what he wants to do.

that's the problem with you people! You guys always come up with an excuse or twist things. You guys say margarito is scared to fight people, we tell you he already fought the guys you list. When you say he doesn't want to face someone that will beat him, we tell you he's fought more top 10 ww's than any other ww. Then you come up with an excuse as to why they dont count. Relax on the hate bro!! Like them being a champion means something now lol Their the same fighters. margarito beat clottey when margarito had a year lay off, only fought like 5 rounds in two years, on an injured ankle and at this point you think margarito is scared to fight him again? margarito beat him a fight that wasn't even close! it was UD for margarito what makes you think clottey could do better against a much improved fighter?

if you don't margarito to have all the belts ok fine, he can defend his belt against collazo another top ww under his resume. and i never said he was scared i think your confused since your defending marg against multiple ppl. and your dillusional if you dont think clottey/margarito was close, you can make a case for that fight being a tie or even clottey winning.
