Interesting thing about Pacquiao-Marquez Round 1 in 2004

First off, great fight and my hat goes off to both of them. Who cares who you thought won, both guys fought a great fight and in the end neither deserved an L.

Here is what I found to be interesting. After the third knockdown, it looked for all the world that the fight was over. If you see in the second row, the promoter Murad Muhammad starts breaking for the ring immediately thinking the fight was over.

How wrong everyone was. Marquez got up and gave Pacquiao the fight of his life.

That fight was so close to being done (and frankly I'm surprised the fight wasn't called but happy that it wasn't because Marquez had tons left) and in many people's minds it was over. Just shows what kind of heart Marquez had.

It also shows that often times fights get stopped to early.. but then again, you stop one too late and it can be fatal.

Yea man it was a crazy fight and im glad it didnt get stopped, for Marquez to be so good technically, he gets hit pretty easy

I was at the fight and after the 3rd K'd I thought it was over, one of the best fights I've ever seen live. Marquez fought a beautiful fight and took away Manny's left hand the rest of the way.

I'm telling you, I never for a second thought the fight was over. I knew Marquez was going to get up because he was still in control of his body, he didn't wobble or anything, he just kinda went down. He took the count properly and was doing everything to steady himself.

I knew the fight was going to be a grueling one, especially after Marquez made it to the corner.
