So....lol what does that mean? hes in great shape. just because someone is in great shape, doesn't mean their on steroids. Sure he looks bigger in the second picture, but one is at middleweight and one is at heavyweight. James Toney was never on steroids until the end of his career, probably to recover from injuries. He wasn't taking THG to mask steroid use, because if he was, he would have got named in the victor conte case.

Heres my take on Roy Jones Jr. and steroids.
Roy Jones Jr. and steroids...
Roy Jones Jr. tested postive for Androsteindione in 2000 against RICHARD HALL.
Andro was available OTC at stores like the GNC until 2004.-You can look it up if you don't believe me. Roy made the mistake of taking a banned substance, but it was legal to buy at the time.
Show me a legitimate source, that says Roy was linked to Balco. Mosley was named, why wouldn't victor conte named Roy? Theres no legit source that says Roy was buying THG from Victor Conte. Its speculation because he went downhill in 2003.
But remember, he was nearly 35 years old when he went downhill. You can't tell me 35 is an athlete prime still. BUT HE LOOKED SUPERHUMAN AGAINST RUIZ!! True, but Ruiz is very limited as a fighter. Not to mention with the help of Mackie Shilstone, Roy was in the shape of his life and extremely focused.
You do realize Roy didn't just melt off weight to fight Ruiz, right? He melt 20+ lbs. of muscle. And he did it in 6 weeks thinking he was going to get a fight with Mike Tyson. In your mid thirties, that can take its toll on you. And remember Tarver is a step up in comp. from John Ruiz. As far as the rematch goes, he just got hit with a punch he didn't see. That could have happened at any point of his career.
After the second Tarver fight, he was scared of getting koed and he was also getting older with each fight. What did you expect, Roy to stay superhuman forever? At some point all athletes go down the tubes, especially one like Roy who relied on speed and reflexes.
You say the proof is pudding!!! he was faster at the higher weights than he was at the smaller. I disagree with that. I'd say he was faster than ever at 154. But even if you do think that proves it, thats all speculation on your part, you can't prove the truth.
As far as your ace in the hole, an article from Anthony Hall, the head of doping. I've seen that piece posted all over the net on MESSAGE BOARDS. No legitimate source has ever confirmed that any of that was true. One kid even pasted lines from other articles in it on one site. I don't where it came from? But if theres no source for it, why should I believe it? anyone can write/type anything. I could say right now that DLH was steroids from 1996-1999. I have serum levels. Is it true, just because its written there? If the head of doping came out and said one of the biggest fighters in the sport has failed four tests, don't you think other boxing mediums would have picked up on that story? they sure did for the Richard Hall one. Once again, that message board posting, is very shady to me.
So imo, Roy tested positive once for a soft steroid, that wasn't even banned at the time. The rest is hear say and speculation. With that said, believe what you want.Last edited by Truth; 11-19-2008, 08:06 PM.Comment
