I know but it's not like Toney is winning fights based on his superior physical conditioning.

His steroid use late in his career doesn't really put his career legacy in doubt in my opinion, it's fighters like Roy Jones, Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield that I'm somewhat su****ious about.

At what point do you think each use steroids?

            Holyfield from CW to HW?

RJ from LH to HW...MW to LH?

            Tyson...pre-prison, post prison?

We can really do a whole list of names:

            Ruddock

            Lewis

            Mercer

            Tua

            basically eveybody in the 90's

Steroids have been around since the 30's, used by bodybuilders since the 40's, athletes started in the 50's I think...

Even the little guys have been caught using steroids. EPO might be big now as well. HGH and insulin. So many.

I'm not saying they did or didn't, there's no solid proof either way but what I'm saying is that if they did, it would be a bigger deal than Toney's late career steroid use since their physical ability was much greater than Toney's is these days and you'd have to wonder how they would've done if they didn't use steroids.

Evander Holyfield said he was 100% sure that Tyson used steroids, that's only Holyfield of course but I wouldn't be surprised by it, especially after Tyson's prison stint.

                  i did not know that

Holy actually grew taller when he moved from CW to HW and the difference between Holys physique from his early days as a HW against the likes of Pinklon Thomas to the Holy that stepped in the ring against Tyson and Bowe 3 there was a massive difference

Holyfield has shown all the signs of steroid user shoulder injuries heart problems, contracting hepatitis, also the Evans Field scandal leaves me very sceptical to say the least

Holfyield said he "heard" from someone that Tyson used so he should use. We would have to find out who he heard it from and when.
Most people seem to think Tyson did something after prison. In prison Butch Lewis saw Tyson and said he looked "fit" to fight so he was in decent shape, but not boxing shape, coming out.

People noticed a change in Tyson's body. If you notice, prior to prison, especially in his days with Cus and Rooney, Mike had “smooth” muscles...which is why I think his stamina was better as well.
According to sources that were around, Tyson had limited to no weight-lifting during that time in Catskill...everything was floor exercises designed by Cus. I remember some idiot boxing guy/trainer who called Cus a phony, said Cus was basically an idiot and behind the times because he noticed Mike was doing Old School stuff instead of lifting weights to trim more and get stronger. Not sure how you can think you are credible when Tyson went on to win the title.

After prison, he worked with a personal trainer nobody heard of before and he had some 5 step plan to get Mike back in tip-top shape. This is su****ious. Mike came out looking more like a bodybuilder. I know he was relatively the same weight as in his prime, around 220+ post prison, pre-prison around 215-220...but he was ripped. Of course, there is the Old School method, which is still used today, *******...which would explain Mike's habit. If not that, than it could be just dieting right with the help of a pro or, something he could have used something that is illegal.

In Holyfield's book (which I skimmed), he basically called Tyson a cheat. He said Mike saw him during the build-up or something like that and he {Evander} had not been lifting yet so he was "smaller." Then, during the weigh-in, Holyfield, after weeks of training, was much bigger and Tyson thought something was up...so he demanded Holyfield to take a steroid test before the match. Holyfield basically said Tyson was mad that he wasn’t the only one cheating/using. Mike demanded a steroid test be given to Holyfield. Holyfield said he passed the test which is why nothing was ever brought up.
It could be Tyson took steroids or, since Tyson demanded it, it could be that Tyson didn't want someone else to cheat...not sure.
There is a thing with steroid cheats and it goes along with what James Toback (who is actually friends with Mike) once said in a documentary...he said: "When I was on drugs, I thought everybody was on them...and when I was off drugs, I thought nobody was on them."

The point is a person that cheats, like using steroids, will have to justify it in some way to themselves in order to not feel like a cheat…so he tells himself: Everybody is doing it so it is fair.

Mike was asked during the time Toney failed what he thought and he said something like: Could you imagine if I was on them; I would be a lethal weapon...and people would hang me for it.

Somebody probably has the exact quote.

I think everybody is basically suspect. It's a shame, but that's the way it is in today's World.
