Craziness
I believe that at first Marg probably wasnt that much of a danger these days anymore and that even if he is ''which is Proven that he still is'' he didnt think Shane would give up so much ta make the fight happen but Shanedid and he pissed his pants and ran like a *****.still respect Marg somewhat but if he aint fightin Shane it better be Paul Williams ,or cotto rematch .anything else at this point is ****** after all the talk and bull****in about Marg bein the most dangerous and feared . If you really wanna break it down he was losin the cotto fight until he scored the knock out and frankly i dont know if he can do it again with out smothering Cotto like before and walking im down till he couldnt run no more from his big ass

As I said on the last page, Cotto also played the role of tough negotiator. He also went missing as the signing day limit neared against Margarito. In the end he got more money and concessions.
It seems Margarito played the same game, but was not offered any more money, so he walked away.
It may be a pride thing also. Mosley saying that he was kind enough to offer Margarito "pay parity" may have come off as an insult. Margarito is considered the big wig of the division now, not Mosley. Margarito deserves the bigger coin.
A lot of pride is involved in this game. Most fighters over value themselves once the reach the top. I have always been in favor of 3rd party arbitrators in this sport. If they had them, we might see more mouth watering fights.

Margs is serving notice, "I AM NOT A PUPPET ANYMORE!" Show him the Money, and he will finally SHOW. We will see what happens. I don't expect him to choose until Dec 13. The week after the DLH fight.

It only works that way for Championship Mandatory fights. The "purse bid" makes sure the champ gets more than the challenger at the highest bidder. But since this is an "optional" defense, it will have to be negotiated.

I dont have many points, but does anyone want to bet?
I have Paulie over Hatton, and Pwill over Verno by KO (betting on the KO).
Let me know.

I didn't read through all the comments, so sorry if it's been said before.
Unless this lead to a quicker rematch with Miguel Cotto, say somewhere in early March, then this makes absolutely no sense.
I understand passing up on Paul Williams. He's a big risk that could derail the talked about rematch with Cotto in June/July. And even though he was apparentlly offered $4 mil for the fight, I think Margarito would've made more money by fighting Mosley and then Cotto. He would've added another name on his resume had he beaten Mosley, who is less of a risk than Williams) and would still be fighting a top guy in the welter division with a Cotto rematch. So, that line of thinking I understand.
Margarito walking away from a suppose $2mil on a non PPV card due to the money not being there in his eyes, is totally insane. Shane Mosley is still a name in boxing, I don't see who else will bring Margarito name recognition & money for a fight right now in the welter division. Margarito has already passed on Clottey, Paul Williams and now Mosley. So who is Margarito waiting for?
The only thing I can think of is that maybe Top Rank is close to getting the Cotto vs. Jennings deal done, a give Cotto a chance to win a belt. Then they'll turn around and set up Margarito vs. Clottey for a unification bout and the winner gets another unification bout against Cotto in June/July. Granted, this is very unlikely since Margarito vs. Clottey didn't take place this year after Margarito said he needed more time to train and couldn't meet a Nov. 1 date.
Again, unless Top Rank is ditching Cotto vs. Jennings and going ahead and just have Margarito vs. Cotto rematch early next year then It's a dumb move on Margarito's part.
