Oscar beat Tito in my opinion.

Pavlik has shown to be not so great...just decent. It just means he is getting away with picking on smaller fighters. He did beat Taylor though, although Taylor isn't so great either.

Oscar had more in him than Tarver in my opinion. Tarver looked like Gumby after coming out of boiling water.

I give him repect though: he stuck around for a long time and did well. He's been past his prime for 8 years and beat Pavlik...that's something...but in that time, he did lose to Taylor twice.

well ODLH did not beat Tito IMO he beat Quartey and Mosley 2 but not Tito that fight was VERY close and could of been scored a draw it was that close neither of them deserved to win but Tito got the decision cause he forced the fight down the stretch and in big fights like this you have to show willing that is why ODLH got the decision over Whitaker IMO and one of the main reasons why Calzaghe got the decision over Hopkins

its not about Pavlik's greatness its the fact that Hopkins is a 43 year old man who was written off and a lot of fans were saying he would not only lose but get stopped

Tarver weight drained + Hopkins age =great win

This thread can't be answered without someone chiming in with who they think of as in the top 10 ATG. I admit that I'm not too sharp on my boxing history so I don't know who Floyd would possibly replace? Anybody wanna post their personal top 10 ATG?

It's not a great win against Tarver in my book. Hopkins was 41??? and Tarver was around 37???...but, Hopkins had still treated his body well while Tarver destroyed it similar to Jones and Byrd. Plus, Tarver was like a crack-head for years. Tarver's best win was over a drowned Roy Jones Jr.

I think you should stop listening to fans and Palik's team. Hopkins had never been KO'd before and I personally wasn't expecting it. For weeks I didn't think Hopkins was going to win; I thought it would be like the Hopkins vs. Taylor match; kind of close and nasty. But, for some reason, on the day of the fight, I thought Hopkins was going to win...or at least wanted him too. I think it was just my bias coming in because I'm from Philly and I heard Pavlik say "He's never been hit with this type of power." I bet Echols hit harder and of course, Roy...although Roy did have a hurt right hand so cross him out.

And yeah, I guess I'll give the Old Man some credit for giving Calzaghe a close fight and some say he won...I thought he let it slip away because his stamina hasn't been the same for a long time.

i bet two people that Hopkins would NOT get knocked out against Pavlik ive seen lots of Hopkins fight and he never took solid shots in his career apart from the 1st Mercado fight so there was no way he was going to get Ko'ed by a slow 1,2,3 fighter

I'm with you. I don't consider myself worthy at the moment to come up with a legit, reasonable, backed up with facts, type of top 10. I would have to devour hundreds of boxing books, watch thousands of film, and get some interviews with people to come up with a great list based on my personal opinion.

Of course, I could just come up with a top 10 for fun...but I think I would create two: One for the fighters I watched...and this can include Old timers since there is footage...and the others that I've never seen before but deserve to be in the top 10.

I didn't understand it either. He does have a great chin...but it is his defense that is incredible; STILL. He's a defensive wizard. I wouldn't say he is Whitaker because Pernell had natural ability where he wouldn't even need gloves to protect him, but Hopkins is up there through hard-work learning day in and day out on how to get better.

in my opinion the ATG is highly debatble because I believe those old guys who fought in the early 1900's would have no chance against the fighters of today due to lack of training and most of them would just come off the streets and fight so floyd should be up there
