What do you think about tactics like this?

I have always liked aggressive, hard-punching boxers, but I dislike those who lead with the head, or follow through with the elbow, or throw hip shots on the blindside of the referee (although that isn't as bad as the other two).

I recognise that many of the most exciting fighters of all time did things like this, but it's still something that I'm not keen on.

I particularly dislike the above photo because Louis was apparently Marciano's favourite boxer, and someone he had a lot of respect for, yet he still did that to him. The fact that Louis was old and past his best makes it even worse IMO.

It's not cheating, it's just smart. Good for you if you can get away with it

Don't agree with it, but don't really care about it either

Marciano was not a dirty fighter, that elbow was accidental

Marciano was the king at using his elbows, Mayweather is great at using them as well.

I don't think you'll find any great fighter that doesn't use some type of illegal tactics inside the ring.

It's up to the referee, in my opinion.

Marciano, as great as he was, was also real sloppy so your gonna have ur wild shots, head butts elbows, I'm not a big fan of dirty boxing but I understand its bound to happen accidently although some do it on purpose

Looks like Louis threw himself into that elbow to try and get a DQ win.

I don't like it but as long the referee doesn't do anything about it, he can do it. Tyson used to be really good at mixing elbows in with his punches as well.

How about the man in your sig?

With the exception of the Griffin fight (I know that's a big exception, but I consider it to be a ****** mistake rather than an attempt to cheat) I don't remember him ever throwing an elbow, leading with his head or anything similar.

I remember de la Hoya hitting after the bell once, but again, that's something very minor IMO. I cannot think of anything else like that from him.

I think that most of the top fighters in the modern era are not dirty. With action replays and so on, it would be jumped upon pretty fast by those that dislike the particular boxer, as the Mayweather elbows were after the Hatton fight.

I dont like fighters like Hopkins that build a career off of it. Its becomes accepcted and celebrated with him. Yet other fighters dont get that tolerance.

Everyone has their "things" that they do to try and win a bout. As long as there are rules, there will be a fighter trying to find his edge in "bending" them. As long as you have a human referee, there is suspect in enforcing them.
