Yea, sure did. When he cut Vitali faces to pieces when Lewis was way past his prime and come into the fight at record weight and still managed to beat Vitali. The funny thing is still today that is Vitali's best win, a loss

If he had intended to do it, he would have done so before announcing retirement. You could tell by how out of shape he was in that final bout that the will to continue had already left him. He seems quite content outside of the ring.

Other than for greed, there's no reason for this fight to happen. Look how much more respect people have for his career and legacy after he retired on his own terms. Plus the amount of training Lewis would have to go through and ring rust he'd have to shake off to get in shape for the fight is pretty huge. The heavyweight division is in a terrible state when you have to talk about long retired champions coming back for one of the few possible 'money' fights.

and having Jim Lampley rub his belly at ring side

"Lewis beaten every man he has ever faced" blah blah blah

Lewis is a terrible commentator, they should get rid of him, he has failed

            What a load of bollocks.

            Lewis is principally respected.....

            1. For being the best HW of his era.

            2. For retiring and staying retired.

            3. For not being ******.

Why throw away '2' and '3'?!

Lewis is a great, he doesn't need to fight Vitali. It's fairly obvious the odds will be stacked against him if he does decide to come back.
The Klitschkos should fight some real contenders for once instead of picking on old men and bums. I'm glad people like Haye and Gomez are finally getting their chance.

If Vitali fights Lewis I expect everyone that ridiculed Mayweather for fighting a past prime DLH, Calzaghe for fight Jones/Hopkings to mock this pathetic fight.

Fighting a guy who has been retired for 4 years and was well past his best when he retired unlike Vitali, who is very overweight and his entire head of hair is grey..

Maybe Wlad bullied Steward into saying this?
Ye I agree with you. If Lewis really wants to, he can get in shape but it doesn't look like that's his plan right now. After-all, he did tell Vitali that he broke the deal they had which was that Vitali would only come out of retirement to face Lewis if Lewis came out of retirement. Lewis didn't yet he still came out of retirement. Vitali knows this is the fight that will get him the most money out of any fight and he wants to settle the score. If Lewis were to come out (but he won't), this would be a mega-fight and could possibly help revive the HW division for a while...

lennox lewis should stay retired and be the only one who does what he says, by staying retired.

there is no real reason for lennox lewis to come out of retirement, what for vitali? lewis is so far removed from the sport and we all know that after a tune up or two then finally having a fight set with vitali, klitschko is going to post pone with injuries during training, at least twice, it will be about 3 years out from this day if lewis were to come back and take the fight before it would happen, maybe 4 years with vitali's health track record.

i don't want to be one of those guys that says lewis won and there is no reason for the rematch, but the fact is, lewis wanted to retire after that fight, and i personally think that we should respect that. a rematch would've been cool, but now so far out, i say let it die........

                    plus hw fights suck......

If Lewis coming out of retirement to fight Klitschko makes the HW division look a joke, can you imagine what people will think if Lewis were to win?
