Nice picture of Harry Greb...I think. As for what you say, Hagler did as much and maybe more, to try to get Leonard to rematch, but Leonard kept saying "Oh...Nnunnoooo" and made like ..."I'm too smart for that". I have it on tape..a few times.
Don't you know that Hagler was SO annoyed at the judges verdict, and Leonard's refusal to re-match, that he retired as a protest, and went to make films in Italy, where he is today.Comment

It's not as if there wasn't a good reason for stopping the fight. Maybe Manny needs more beer money and is trying to get himself a big payday? Who knows? I am a huge fan of Lewis but I have no desire to see him fight again, he has nothing to prove to anybody and should enjoy his well earned retirement.Comment

Lewis needs to stay retired. The last couple years i kinda wanted him to comeback but now i think he's been out too long. He had a great career and he doesnt need to go out with what could be a tough beating at this point unless he just came back 100% committed to give one last great outing...Comment

If this was a few years ago Id still be calling for a rematch but it's 2008.
Lennox has been retired for over 4 years and Vitali clearly stayed in shape throughout his 3 year retirement period.
Vitali would have beaten Lennox if he hadn't been cut IMO.I mean he was already ahead on the scorecards.
The Point is he was cut,Lennox has the win over him on his record and now it's too late for a rematch.
He was very smart to retire on top when he did since Vitali was kept as the Number 1 contender for the WBC title as the result of his good performance.
Lewis retired on top to avoid being dethroned in a rematch.Given the circumstances and looking back on it,his retirement was the smartest move he ever made.
Rather than retireing as a legend who was dethroned he instead retired the smart way on top with no unavenged defeats.Comment
