Mayweather has a pretty outstanding record up until lightweight. His competition above lightweight has been less than spectacular on the whole, but he still has one of the better records of the last ten years. So... why the need to trash his peers?
THE CALZAGHE GIF IS FUNNY AS HELL...
but back to the topic......
I am not trashing cotto...I just want cotto to start acting like he wants to be
a great fighter...and take more control of his career.
because this pattern of only getting belts for fighting for vacant titles is bull****.
and I call it like i see it.
if you want to be consider great. do great things...THAT SIMPLE.
Thank you for your Response:
This is my Problem with Cotto, and it is a huge Problem.
Cotto to me is a *****, for letting his career be handled in a way it has been handle. TO ME HE DOESNT DARE TO BE GREAT.
COTTO FOUGHT GOMEZ TO WARM UP FOR MARGARITO
AND MARGARITO FOUGHT CINTRON TO WARM UP FOR COTTO...!!! YOU DONT SEE THE PROBLEM WITH THAT..!!!
BOB ARUM KEEP SETTING COTTO UP FOR FAILURE.
AND NOW, Cotto is fighting another Gomez type fighter to warm up for Margarito again. WTF!!!
COTTO NEVER TAKES RISK!!!!!
AND TO ME HE DOESNT DARE TO BE GREAT.
and I Have a huge problem with that.
People want to compare Cotto to Mayweather or any other great fighter.
but if Mayweather would of ever lost to Margarito i guarantee you Floyd would of rematch him the right next fight, no warm up.
Example: People say just because the first Castillo fight was floyd toughest
fight to that point that he lost. So what did Floyd do...???
He rematch him THE NEXT FIGHT, and Proved that the first fight was an admiration, so much so , when asked if he wanted to fight Floyd again Castillo said "No"
When Mosely lost to Vernon Forrest, he rematch him the right next fight, no warm up
When Roy WON A CLOSE DECISION to Tarver He rematch him the right next fight, no warm up.
Because thats what great fighters do. THEY DARE TO BE GREAT..!!!!
And it ALSO troubles that he has the same flaws he had in the beginning of his career.
COTTO has serious flaws
He still gets hit a lot, and wastes a lot of punches. Sometimes he punches from too far out and leaves gaps where he can be countered or beaten to the punch.
Why did Calzaghe duck Johnson
Why did Cotto say no to Mayweather at 147
When did cotto say no to mayweather? He have always said that he will fight anybody, anywhere. He just left that to his Promoters. Mayweather was the one as soon as they mentioned Cotto,he chaged the subject, hell he actually retired because of him. And when Calzaghe duck Johnson?????
Top Rank is why! BA is a Weasle and cares nothing for the sport! He knows the limitations of his cash cows so he maneuvers them in ways that maximize his earnings! If you were cotto you would do what your told and cash the checks that the weasle feeds him!
THIS A SERIOUS QUESTION THAT NEED A SERIOUS ANSWER....???
1.Ok Guys, Straight up why has the only time Cotto ever won a belt, it has been for a vacant title?
First title:
~ vacant WBC International light welterweight title ~
vs. Cesar Bazan ( CONTENDER) Previous Best Win:Mauro Lucero Second title:
~ vacant WBO NABO light welterweight title ~
vs. Rocky Martinez ( CONTENDER) Previous Best Win:Javier Carmona Third title:
~ vacant WBO light welterweight title ~
vs.Kelson Pinto ( CONTENDER) Previous Best Win: Richard Savage Fourth Title:
~ vacant WBA welterweight title ~
vs.Carlos Quintana (CONTENDER) Previous Best Win: Joel Julio
Where are the champions on that list?
Cotto fights all Medium RISK - Medium Reward fighters EXCEPT ONE TIME, AND HE GOT HIS ASS BEAT..! (MARGARITO)
Their is a big difference between beating a CURRENT CHAMPION for his belt.
and beating a fellow contender for a belt.
Thats why we have words like CHAMPION and CONTENDER....
and Cotto always fights contenders for his belts...
He has never had to beat a CHAMPION for his belt.
Cotto has never had to take away something from somebody who earned it.
Cotto Flaws....Of Getting HIT alot , and wasting a lot of punches, Is a flaw you can not afford to have against The Elite Fighters And ESPECIALLY (CHAMPIONS)....., THATS WHY COTTO AVOIDS FIGHTING PRIME FIGHTERS(CHAMPIONS) FOR THEIR BELTS... AND FIGHT BULL**** FIGHTERS.. FOR VACANT TITLES.

Quintana has proven himself worthy. And Bazan while faded and fighting past his best, is usually the type of guy you'll win your first "title" against (that belt you listed is not even a world title).
I'm not sure what your point is except to say Cotto doesn't fight top fighters. Well if that's what you're saying then that's pretty laughable. At welter, Quintana, Judah, Mosley and Margarito all held titles at one point or the other and are still relevant - in Mosley's case much, more so when Cotto fought them. I mean, Urkal and Gomez are the only two soft opponent's he's had at 147. Soft. That's not bad for soft. Better than Golden Johnson. Or whoever Berto's fighting lately.
I'd also argue that with the exception of Ricky Hatton (who really only gets the nod because of Tszyu alone) Miguel Cotto had the best resume at 140 while he was there. Cartlos Maussa before Maussa went on to beat Harris. Lovemore N'dou is still a tough out for anyone. DeMarcus Corley before Floyd (albeit a controversial win)? Ricardo Torres? Malignaggi? I'm leaving out some too. But you get the point. I mean, I don't even know how you can claim he ducks anyone when he just fought the one guy who nearly everyone avoided. But I guess you realize that because you made sure to include "Except for one time." Well yeah...if you narrow his resume down to four fights and pretend the rest of it doesn't exist.
Finally, if your point wasn't competition and just the way he fights (which apparently you don't like), fine. Just say so. That would make for good debate. But to act as if, other than Margarito, he's fought nothing but chumps - and then list those four guys among all the people he's fought in the past four years...wow. That's amazing. Next time don't try so hard. There are a lot worse fighters than the one who's fought Judah, Mosley and Margarito in three of his last four.
