Another angle. Pac has been dropped, hurt and stopped by fighters who punch far softer then Oscar is going to do. Pac has never been hit as hard as Oscar will hit him. And he will connect alot because he can control the pace with his jab and drop some heavy shots behind it. Also, Manny isnt used to reaching for his opponant like he will have to with Oscar. Pictures of Manny from training against a guy Oscars size show how WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD DDDDDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE open Manny is to get hit with the left hook, which will end the fight. The other point is that Oscar has been hit by guys much bigger, and much stronger then Pac is. And he took those punches well. Manny wont be able to outbox Oscar, and if he comes rushing in he will have to go toe to toe with a man who can fight good inside and who can take his punch and give a much harder punch. Im telling you right now, (unless Oscar rigged it to lead up to a Pac vs Mayweather fight) that this fight will onbly go on as long as Oscar allows it to. I think it could end very early, but he may carry him a few rounds to make it look like a real fight. Manny CANT WIN. 100% he cant. Unless it is rigged, Manny wont see the end of the fight.Comment

i hear people arguing that pacquiao is way out of his class because of the weight (147) he is fighting at...someone with boxing experience or knowledge please explain to me how will he look any different (speed/power) than his last fight which was at 135 but Manny weighed in at 147 on fight night...
Pacquiao is fighting a boxer puncher, counterpunches effectively and has power to boot.
Pacquiao and De la Hoya will weigh in at 147 at the scales (and Pacquiao did well at 147 against Diaz), but two problems:
1-) Pacquiao was 147 AFTER rehydrating...with DLH, Pacquiao is starting off at 147 and then has to rehydrate and probably stack up more pounds. I doubt he'll rehydrate as much as De la Hoya. It's not only the fact that his opponent will be rehydrating comfortably, it's that Pacquiao will most likely not rehydrate so much because he's getting further and further from his "normal" weight class.
2-) De la Hoya is not Díaz. Period.
So what do we have? De la Hoya with a reach advantage, comfortable at the weight class, rehydrates easily to 154-160, while Pacquiao has to move UP two weight classes. De la Hoya more experienced, better opposition, bigger arsenal of technique, never been knocked out (with the exception of Hopkins). The ones who beat De la Hoya have to be in the fight for all 12 rounds: Mosley (twice), Trinidad (controversial) and Mayweather (near draw).
How is Pacquiao, someone who is moving up two weight classes, fights coming forward, and gets drawn into exchanges whenever he gets tagged with a hard combination (loves to retaliate) gonna' win against a fighter who is more comfortable at the weight class, seldom stopped, and is always competitive? Pacquiao has to pull one out of the bag to win this fight.
I hadn't thought about it until I started writing this out of the blue just now, but I'm only reaffirming myself that De la Hoya's got this.
BTW, I WANT Pacquiao to win, but I'm torn on it. If he wins, it means my prediction came wrong, but on the other hand, if DLH wins, prediction takes place yet I will sigh disappointingly.
De la Hoya TKO 8
I made my prediction in a thread by some poster stating that there would be massive giveaway points for the closest prediction.
BTW, feel free to bump this thread if Pacquiao wins, you guys can flame me if you want.Comment

There is no fighter who weighs in at the weight he weighed in at the day before. Everyone is counting their calories and shoveling salad to get to smaller divisions.Comment

I think the more appropriate way of phrasing it would be yes, he will look just as sharp and fast as he did against diaz but he will still be at a major disadvantage cuz of the height, weight and reach differenceComment
