Kessler is quoted as saying that he spoke to Hopkins at the Calzaghe-Jones fight, and they agreed that they wanted to fight each other. That doesn't make it a done deal, but it makes it a possibility.

Another ATG added to Kessler's resume.

Dawson is calling out Kessler, why won't he go to 168. He can do it quite easily, or so it is claimed.

I just cannot see the fight happening.

If it does, then I wouldn't criticize Kessler at all nor should anyone else.

How about I put it this way. Now, before I go on, let me make it clear that I'm not even a fan of Kessler. I've only seen a few of his fights and I truly don't care who he fights and if he wins or loses.......

So, let me put it this way! What would you say if Margarito called out Ricky Hatton? Would you give Marg credit for calling out a great fighter even if Hatton had been calling out Mayweather, who was in the WW division and had twice the name Marg did? Think about that for a minute. It is the same thing.

So let me get this straight:

Kessler calls out LHW Hopkins? Cool.

Kessler calls out LHW Calzaghe? Cool.

Dawson calls out SMW Kessler? Move down.

              Got it.

I see your point Benny but the analogy is off a little bit. Here's a better one.

                Ricky Hatton calls out Floyd.

                Ricky Hatton calls out Margarito.

But then when Paul Williams calls out Hatton he's doing something wrong?

Heck no. Obviously Hatton has no issues with the weight...just who he fights.

Sucks for the boxing world, that could be a big fight.
Dawson brings more to the table than any of Kessler's opponents since Joe.

                      1. Kessler is a SMW champion. Seems he caught a bad rap for defending his title. Why is it okay for Dawson to protect his interests, when Kessler isn't allowed? If Dawson can't go to SMW because he's afraid of losing his titles, then Kessler can't go to LH, because he might lose his. That works both ways.

The way I see it, Kessler and Dawson are in the same situation; they're both just below the top guys in recognition (and rigthly so), and they're both having a hard time getting those guys in the ring (too much risk, too little reward). Based on that, a fight between them would seem to make sense. It is much easier to make sense of it for the bigger man, though. He will be the one holding all the advantages; his weight, his hometurf etc.
Not only does Dawson have two titles but he won them against upper echelon opponents. Kessler could go to 175, move back down and capture that same paper title again. If Dawson was stripped of the IBF/IBO, then the person who won it vacant doesn't have to fight him and there aren't many fighters at light heavy with big names that would fight him. If Kessler loss to Dawson, then there are plenty of names that wants to fight at back at super middle( like Froach, Taylor, ect). He is the best super middleweight and the biggest name in the division, and Dawson doesn't have that recognition at 175 yet so he would have to get back in line for those titles again. Hope that made sense.
