As far the first part, they do stay in quality hotels in Germany for big fights.
We're not talking about building him a scaffold of brown m and m's and ****.
You're exaggerating terribly with no expense spared. He's not some rock star.
Barrett is far from a primadonna. If he's complaining, I believe him.Comment

That last part I agree with, but some things you should just do and not have to negotiate.

When he was fighting three times every two months and paying his own bus fair I bet he used to dream of a $50 per day food budget!Comment

At the same time you mentioned yourself that he's staying in London. Even a modest hotel is an expensive undertaking. How long do you think he's there for? A week? For a London hotel with at least a three star rating you're looking at a hundred quid a night. So if he stays a week with his food allowance and board he's getting 700 quid plus 210 quid in food. His business class flight will be about a thousand pounds. He's getting an additional two thousand pounds for flight and accommodation (plus extras like breakfasts, incidental travel etc). Essentially he's getting almost $4000 on top of his purse for expenses for a week.

I bet you my paycheck he got treated better in Chicago and Vegas when he fought there, and would have gotten treated better in Germany.
It's the right thing to do for a high profile that people are going to make money off of.
Why do you want him to relive the old days. He's a good pro.Comment

haha actually it was probebly 7 pounds. I keep doubling all the prices because that was about what the currency was. I dunno my memory is foggy, but food is expensive in Britain.Comment

Proper accommodations are the standard in this business.Comment

But what's the hotel? Is business class really not good enough for someone of Barrett's stature? How much does he need for food?Comment

I never would pay my own money on a business trip and I don't know one person that would. And I sure as hell wouldn't stay in a ****ty hotel if my business involved lots of money and me to be at my peak physically.
Minor inconveniences become bigger distractions that way.
Necessities add up especially considering the stakes. Tape, cabs, calling home to talk to a trainer, or motivational stuff.
Some people seriously don't understand...
I think he's right to complain.
You never hear this kind of thing about Germany. They have a long record of treating guests well, and paying them well. They just used to judge fights badly.
I can't see why Haye's people can't do the same.Comment
