let say Tarver doesn't land the left hand in the 2nd round of their rematch, does Roy win that fight? he looked real good in the first round.

Tarver is wildly inconsistent. What we do know is that Roy might have continued fighting and gotten starched anyway since he obviously wasn't ever himself after the Ruiz fight.

if that left hand didn't land in the 2nd round ecspecially, I think Roy would have won the rematch.

But your right. Age was catching up with Roy because was is a speed and reflex fighter. And I think the weight drain took its toll on him because he melted the muscle off so quickly. Plus I think Tarver was just very hungry and Roy was not. I have to give credit to Tarver for landing a great punch.

But Bsrizpac, do you agree with me that punch would have never happened 5-6 earlier? like when roy was 29-30. I can't imagine that happening...

Anything could happen. Del Valle landed a hard shot. But it's pretty unlikely. Also Roy would have probably taken the fight out of Tarver by then. I also think Roy would have gotten up like he did against Lou. So to answer you: no.

I think tarver was pretty overrated. Much like Joe is being overrated now.

Anything is possible, and I think Tarver would have always give him trouble like Eric Harding did. But I just think the punch Tarver landed was aided a little by the fact Roy was 35. I know Tarver was too, but as I've said many times Roy have alot more wear and tear on his body than Tarver did. Plus Tarver stylistically was better off at 35, than Jones was with his unorthodox style.

You're pretty much spot on. He'd have UD Tarver in his prime. Tarver was always just going to match up tough with him.

nah... roy was 35 but he looked sharp as ever... in the 1st round, and he was winning the 2nd up until he got caught... if it was in round 9 or 10 maybe, but in round 2 roy was still fresh... he got hit with something he didnt see... after 50 fights, it finally happened... he is human...
