And if it isnt an easy win for Jones, that means it would be tough or at least competitive right?

And therefore, if its competitive it COULD go either way.

Who in the video fought like Calzaghe?
So what does the video tell us about Jones vs Calzaghe?

    Nothing.

I would suggest you need to be edjucated on how there is no such thing as a sure thing in boxing.
nobody fought like calzaghe in that video, what does calzaghe do except to throw ***** ass fast punches? you don't think a prime jones can avoid those fast punches? you seem to forget roy's impressive reflexes (during his prime).

no disrespect but you calzaghe supporters make calzaghe believe like he's a god.

Obviously there is no such thing as a "sure thing". In that case, the best we can do is work on the balance of probabilities when discussing potential match-ups. Anyone who think that, on the balance of probabilities, Roy Jones does not defeat Joe Calzaghe prime for prime is one seriously deluded cat.

I've been telling these stans that since Saturday night. One guy in particular even goes so far as to say that trained professional boxers who happen to win a fight in which they are expected to get beat, are lucky.

Some people simply don't understand the basic principle that any man can win on any given night.

They prefer to call it to "hating" and being an "idiot" who knows nothing about the sport of boxing.

Sure, Jones would be a big favourite, but i wouldnt say anyone betting on Calzaghe is deluded. Not at the elite level, and not considering the facts that Calzaghe punched much harder, and possibly faster many years ago, and his toughness, pressure and style may have caused Jones problems. He had a good chance of causing an upset. IMO.

But anyway. This topic has been talk about to death in the last few days.

Well, I actually said miracles. Dance calls it balance of probabilities. Either way, when you are using Tyson/Douglas to make your case as to a prime RJJ facing JC, well sir, you are just asking for what you get. We agreed to disagree and I stand by that. As for the balance of probabilities regarding a prime RJJ facing JC, well, you know how I stand - as I always have.

Prime Calzaghe had significantly more in his locker that just throwing ***** ass fast punches, that has developed since his prime due to smashed up hands from KO after KO.

I think Prime Jones wins, but I wouldn't be putting any money on it.

I like how the JC fans always close the statements with, "I pick Jones to win, but I wouldn't blah blah blah." You said the outcome, or at least the balance of probabilities smart choice outcome, everything after that point is just to solidify yourself as a fan of the opposition.

Sorry I deal with reality's, not nuthugging.

In reality close fights can swing on a single punch.

In nuthugging world your fighter wins every round because he's god. RJJ isn't god and his prime opponents have pretty much the same w/l record as Calzaghes, since I don't know jones opponents all that well and you don't know Calzaghe's opponents all that well i'd say that unless you want to fall into triangular falacy's it's nigh on impossible to judge who would win.

My gut says RJJ my brain says it would be too close to call with any degree of certainty.

Oh and just for the record and a Hatton nuthugger I don't really care all that much for Calzaghe but it irritates me when people base judgements on outright bollocks.

Roy Jones turned pro after the olympics, when he was 19 years old. Thus the notion that 20 year old people is too young to know anything about boxing is absurd.

Calzaghe is nothing like anyone RJJ ever faced in his prime, thus the notion that RJJ would surely win prime for prime is equally absurd.

I would expect most people in and around boxing to favor Jones in the above mentioned scenario, but in the hindsight of their respective careers, I doubt the odds would be more than 60-40.

I have watched most of Calzaghe's fights over the years, when has he ever really looked legandary, apart from Lacy maybe?
When Jones Jr won a title at 175, Calzaghe had just won the WBO 'world title'. Watch his fights over the years, peak oer whatever, Jones Jr at his peak would have far too much for him and would win on points.
