1.Lewis was a heavyweight and olympic gold medallist beating americas number 1 in rid**** bowe,so he was never gonna have any trouble getting a fight.

2.Hamed was the ultimate showman, and possibly the most ludicrously over the top mouthpiece since Ali.Again no problem there america wanted to see him get his big mouth shut(along with most of us) great entertainer tho

3.Hatton only started getting big fights in the states four years ago,and that was courtesy of stopping Tszu.the man who made Zab do the chicken dance.

Dont mind debating the point, but at least be objective.
Hatton was willing to get on a lane and come here too sir. Joe didn't want to leave the confiens of his border and his hometown. his attitude was I am Champion let them come to me. Well I live in New York and people relocate here not for the comforts of their own homes nor for the beautiful sites they come here because the jobs and money is here. Same scenario with boxing. Fighters move to Las Vegas to be close to the action and in the mix rubbing elbows with promoters and other fighters making fights hence making money. If you want to get into shoe business you have to go to Hollywood it is that simple. Out of site out of mind and that is the reason Joe was a no one before he beat Lacy....Lefty

And you're asking me to be objective? Lennox Lewis didn't just walk into a title shot. He earned it by fighting everyone he had to.

Hamed was a major star in the UK but NOT one in the US until he signed a contract with HBO.

You mean Hatton earned his props by beating the consensus best in his division? Agreed. And then he came to the US, tested the waters, came back and got himself a marketable fight...all that BEFORE challenging the world's best. THAT'S how you do it. Thank God he didn't let his promoter get in the way.

Why couldn't Calzaghe do it? Oh yea, that's right. Everyone was scared and the American Embassy blocked him from coming.

Anyway...I don't really care why the fights didn't happen. They didn't.

You done making excuses, Mr. "Be Objective?"
whos making excuses? the vast majority of boxing/roy jones/hopkins in these forums seem to blame joe for these fights not happening.and that is not entirely true.I dont get your point

You don't get it because you don't want to.

MY point is that I don't care who is to blame. They didn't happen. End of story. No one needs to hear excuses. His record in his prime stands as it is.

"now you got to find answers, my hands keep your ass in line like line dancers"-RJJ LOL

In fairness, Calzaghe is fast and he does have great stamina. It would have been a good fight, I see RJJ winning it. But I think Calzaghe would have been one of his best fights, had they fought in their primes.

Infact if you could design a fighter to beat aprime RJ its Joe Calzaghe.
In fact? LOL. In my opinion, if you built a fighter who would beat a prime Calzaghe, it is Rjj. Maybe B-hop.........or a prime James Toney. What was Joe's excuse for not fighting them in their prime too?

But that's just me................and about 75% of the rest of the subscribers on this website. LOL

"u wanna make my day, then bring something big and tuff my way
and watch me put in my work, knockin motha****ers ****s in the dirt"

only advantage Joe has over roy is workrate, Joe has speed but its because there arm punches with hardly any power, and he throws the punches at the same time... imagine Joe trying to do this with a prime Roy, Roy would beat the hell out of him for 12 rounds, and if Joe gets him pissed, Roy would prolly end up knockin him out or his corner would prolly stop the fight... Roy wins something like 9-3

Roy has a different kind of speed, Roy has the fastest hands I have ever seen and his reflexes were amazing.. Max kellerman said hands down Roy is the fastest fighter hes ever seen..

dont ever compare Joes speed to Roys, their speed is nothin alike...

                  Timing and workrate nullifies speed.

                  Power and timing nullifies workrate.

Though speed and workrate can also nullify timing...
