Unless williams wanted to get himself ranked at other organisation like the WBC but that doesnt seem the case because his fighting for the NABO under the WBO (Which means he would want to represent the WBO instead of another organisation).
He wont be the #1 Contender. Because if he wins he can not be clasiffied in 2 divisions, thats the hole reason why he is vacating, WBO rules said that you cant be a champ in 2 divisions at the same time. They are fighting for the interim championship not the NABO. And if he loses he will be droped in the rankigs obviously.

I have been saying this for years...

The General Concerns I have with Cotto....

Cotto has been on cloud 9 before he was even a champion,
So much hype and money have went in to this kid, and I mean kid, that he has to fight the best in the division now.

No More Unproven Contenders Like Gomez,
No More Past their Prime Old Fighters Mosely in which He barely Wins..
No More fighting non active fighters like Judah
He now has to fight Prime,Active, Young , P4P, Highly ranked Fighters....
There is no more grace time.....The Time is Now....
And His First Test is Margarito....
Remember Cotto has never had to beat a Champion For his Title...He has always fought fellow contenders for vacant titles....
(AND HE IS DOING IT AGAIN)
I have been seeing this coming though, but the commentators on HBO are just commenting on the good things they see. Instead of the little things he does wrong that champions will see and will counter, and will not miss. He still gets hit a lot, and wastes a lot of punches. Sometimes he punches from too far out and leaves gaps where he can be countered or beaten to the punch.

      • Zab Judah Show you how to counter him....
      • Shane Mosley show you how to pressure him
      • Demarcus Corely Show you how to accurately hit him...

and Margarito showed how can he handle being hurt by somebody who can finish the job. HE TOOK A KNEE, AND QUIT
      ..
Steward,Merchant and Lampley make him out to be some phenom, because he's KO'd a bunch of lightweights, contenders, and Past their prime fighters
when they know he's starving to make the weight.

Cotto Flaws....Of Getting HIT alot , and wasting a lot of punches, Is a flaw you can not afford to have against The Elite Fighters....., THATS WHY COTTO AVOIDS FIGHTING PRIME FIGHTERS(CHAMPIONS) FOR THEIR BELTS... AND FIGHT BULL**** FIGHTERS.. FOR VACANT TITLES.

Now that Cotto has become boxing Last hope to become the Anti-Floyd....., He has left himself no room to grow as a fighter... To have the experience to be able to defeat Mayweather and it's now too late. So much hype and money have went in to this kid, and I mean kid, that he has to fight the best in the division now.

He has fought 13 Champs or former champs, so what the **** fighting a champ for the a belt means? You are just making excuses for your hating. He has fought fellow contenders former cahmpions and Champions. The guys resume is way better than any other WW at tis moment(except for maybe Mosley). He has faced more Champions than Williams and Margarito combined. And by he way Margaritos 1rst title was the Vacant WBO WW Championship

I have no problem with Cotto being a champion again. But what is pretty unfair in my view is that he lost by getting knocked out and on his comeback he's fighting for a belt without having to work his way back up.

Well a part of me says to expose the paper champ and another says he should fight someone decent before he fights for a belt again. I don't know how he will come back so that's why I lean more on the later one.
I would say the same thing for Margarito if he lost and came back for another belt right away if he got koed(lol).

Fair enough. And since Margarito did his share, Figthing, Johnson, Cintron and then Cotto I have to agree with you. I ask cuz we always get into arguments, and I respect what you have to say.

There is a reason why Williams is fighting at 154 for the NABO title, He isnt going away from 147 totally, The guy is willing to fight anyone from 147-160 and since Bob arum is doing a great job of trying to freeze him out vacating is the only way to go.

He would be automatically ranked at number 1 for the WBO title because he exclusively fought under the WBO even when he moved up to 154.
