Well his fighting at 154 for the NABO (WBO body), If cotto beats the next guy in line at 147(WBO)...then williams would be ranked as the mandatory or the number 1 guy at 147 for the WBO.

Unless williams wanted to get himself ranked at other organisation like the WBC but that doesnt seem the case because his fighting for the NABO under the WBO (Which means he would want to represent the WBO instead of another organisation).

after cotto wins the unification rematch with margarito would most likely take place first, with williams fighting the winner. so cotto or margarito vs williams would be sometime after october 09'

Unless he has to face his mandatory in Williams first. Than it would be Williams/Cotto in the summer with the winner fighting Marg in the unification bout. But I'm not sure what the time frame is for the mandatory, because I'm sure Arum would do everything in his power to make sure that his big summer PPV wouldn't get messed up, and Cotto fighting Williams is certainly a big risk. I for one would love to see it though.

And if the winner of Cotto/Marg 2 does have to face Williams, with the way the first fight went neither one would be able to fight till closer to December.

I'm a little disappointed that he's not taking a tougher fight, but I'm glad that he's finally going to get back in the ring and fight for a belt. Marg/Cotto 2 being a unification bout makes me smile.
my thoughts exactly. winner of july rematch will be THE man.

yeah because for some reason you don't have to beat williams to be the man @ 147, that makes perfect logical sense

well obviously Williams is vacating his title ; he has no big right to being the man anymore, does he ? but anyway, now whoever wins the unification rematch Williams should force them to fight him seeing i bet he'll be ranked #1, and i dont think Cotto will have to fight a mandatory because Jennings was considered it so i think this fight gets it out the way until the unification rematch.

yeah because vacating a title is more important than a win over margarito to determine who the man is, ok gotcha i see where you're coming from

Well, hes the man who just beat Marg and vacated the strap won in that fight. did i consider williams the man? yes, but if he's not a champion at 147 anymore and his next title will be at 154, then point blank he's not the man of 147 anymore. now if he fights the winner of june fight and wins then yeah hell be the man again. but leaving your strap behind, fighting at 160, then 154 your not the man at 147 anymore unless he gets back in there.

No surprise. Cotto once again ducking top fighters. The way he ran from a fight with Berto is a disgrace.

he's ducked topfighters? minus Gomez from his 147 run so far, nothing but high quality fighters. He fought Margarito and is willing togo at it again. hes ducking nobody. He'll kick Bertos ass at this point anyway. Margarito is the one ducking top fighters [Williams]
